I wasen't the person who wanted to discuss Gruden, I just wanted to see what the consensus is on Jake if you guys lose your season before its half over. Not sure with it being a contract year this year and what direction everyone would wanna see happen. This was intended to have nothing to do with the Bucs.

But since everything is about winning around here, this Panther team isn't the best in history if a former team made the super bowl with different players. If 2-5 isn't what it takes for other QB's see action... do you wait longer into the season to see if Jake can save a sinking ship? Or do you stunt the growth of the future QB?

Here is what gets me LBF. Your underlying intention is to say Jake is a bad QB. That since he had 6 turnovers in the playoffs he is done. That if we go 2-5 in our 1st 7 games that it is most likely his fault.

Super Bowl or No Super Bowl John Fox is a much more steady coach then Gruden will ever be. If you subtract the Super Bowl year of 2002 (Dungy Team) and compare from 03 to 08... There isn't close to a comparison. John Gruden 45-51 with two seasons with double figure loses. Playoffs 0-2. John Fox 56-40. and 5-3 playoff record. During that time we have had ONE quarterback (minus injuries) Hell, I can't even count how many TB has.

Why is it you still come here. Most don't care for your insight and no one cares for your biased opinions.

Instead of worrying about whether Carolina will go 2-5 in the 1st 7 games you might want to worry about the Bucs going 0-4 against the NFC east, losing to Buffalo in Buffalo and getting your ass handed again by us and then New England spanking you in London and come back to your bye 0-7. I think this is a far more realistic scenario than yours.

Excellent retort! Honestly, I don't see where the motivation comes from to be so prolific. I'd swear it was a Zod alterego but Zod wouldn't put that much effort into it, so it can't be him...

I thought the same thing, and discounted it for the same reason. :Angel_anim:

Alright, was curious due to the NFC Championship and not being pulled out during that game. Trying to see the consensus on what people think should be the right move if this were to happen.

Jake had a bad game. I am still at a loss for why we abandoned the run game. I think Jake will be fine going into this season. He is a pro and like most pros, they can shake off the last bad outing and focus on whats ahead

Now if he does come out and doesn't perform, I would hope JF would pull him for McCown. I think McCown has a lot of potential. He is big, strong arm and somewhat mobile.

Gruden inherited a good team as it was from Dunghy. And as far as the Super Bowl, who knew the Raiders schemes and personnel better than Gruden did, who had just left them? Fox took over a 1-15 and had them in the SB 2 years later. I won't take away Gruden's success with the Bucs, but I'm reminded of Phil Jackson's tenure with the Bulls when he took over a team that had Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen, among others. A legitimate question would have been why didn't they have more success sooner? I think Fox's accomplishment is much more profound.

That said, another false comparison would be the hypothetical presented in the thread opener, and what happened with Peete and Delhomme. Everyone knew in 2002 that Peete was more or less a caretaker for the QB position. When Jake was obtained prior to the 2003 season, all involved with the 'Cats were proclaiming that he was the guy they wanted more than any others to lead the team. When Peete faltered in the first half against Jax that year, the plug was pulled, and the 'future became now'.

If Jake falters, there is no real 'future' QB waiting in the wings with that kind of hope or expectations on them as far as the team is concerned, that I can determine. If Jake were replaced because of ineffectiveness, I certainly hope that Moore or McKown show true star quality and get the job done. But that remains to be seen. I certainly think the Panthers have a wait and see attitude about Jake, they'll give him this season, but I expect that they will put QB as a priority for the 2010 season and beyond, i.e., look at drafting one, or landing a good free agent prospect. That's my best guess anyways...

Go 'Cats..

this is why you were banned in the first place, could you do a topic that was a little less flame bait???

and the question wouldn't be considered flame bait if it was asked in a different way or if it were asked by a Panthers fan, but because your a bucs fan and because how you asked it, it comes across as flame bait.

I think the question was phrased in a neutral way and I also think you all ought to lay off the dude... He came in with one thread that was moved to the smack forum, but from all the posts I've seen (and perhaps I've missed some hardcore gut wrenching posts that'll give you a sandy vagina), but other than that I think you all ought to quit being jackasses just cause you have a new target to talk poo too...

grow up.

just like you tell him, if ya dont like it, go elsewhere.

From what I've seen I can only say he has presented decent to good points that noone seems to be able to dismiss other than "your a troll". I think he has made some of you look like fools and ya don't like it.

(again, I guess I should reinterate, "perhaps I've missed some hardcore gut wrenching posts that'll give you a sandy vagina", but from what I have seen, you all should quit being jackasses and prove the guy wrong instead of coming up with bullpoo comments.)

Jake has not just had one bad game, he was not even average in some games and a lot of his passes are beyond on target. I'm not a Jake hater and I also do not feel there is anyone to replace him at this point. However, to pretend he has been above average throughout the season is a joke. We would have lost that last Saints game if it wasn't for Smitty coming back to make an outstanding catch, which we see him do all the time because Jake can't put the ball where it needs to be. Had Smitty not made that catch, we would NOT have been NFCS division champs, we would have been a wild card, and perhaps not even made it to the Arizona game where you all think everyone is focusing on that ONE GAME where Jake happened to have one BAD GAME.

I'll be around, whats getting old is people swaying from the topic to discuss some other matter that has nothing to do wih the topic at hand, just to try to take a shot at the Bucs. Thats whats getting old.

Funny how right he is when you go back and read this entire thread. Quit worrying about how LBF is trying to "phrase" his posts and look at it in a neutral way. Just because ya hate someone pointing out the truth doesn't mean some other fan is being a troll.

You don't respond to every "let's trade peppers for" thread calling the original poster a troll, so what makes this any different? We have many more idiots on this board than this guy. Answer the questions and quit swaying off topic. Or else, quit checking out his threads and getting your panties in a bunch cause some dude is pointing out a little truth.

Bleys, your opinion. I think you might want to re-read some of his post. Lets see just a couple tid bits I recall without going back.

Every player they have is equal or greater to 90% of our players.

John Gruden > John Fox (this thread)

Carolina 8-8 vs TB 10-6 in 09

WE GOT A RING AND YOU DON'T (just about every thread on any subject)

I started out thinking he was going to be in here with some unbiased insight but, He isn't. He professes to be but 99% of the time he has his digs about our team.

I respect your opinion but thoroughly disagree.

I'm only bringing anything up into a discussion Tampa Bay related and focusing toward that when people are trying to take stupid cheapshots to be annoying. Maybe what I say is perceived as annoying but seems like you can't even make a decent topic for discussion with people and them not whining or making a stupid comment and following through with it response after response.

I really don't care what people want to bring to a conversation, atleast try to stick on the topic on hand and keep the personal attacks in the Smack forum. I'm here to have a good time and I like the Panthers second to the Bucs in the entire NFC. I earned alot of respect from watching alot of their key players play over the years. Like anytime I know its like 3rd down playing the Bucs, you can just about count on Steve Smith making that first down. I give respect to the players who deserve it, Jake deserves respect as far as his heart and intent to try to help his team win. Where I diss him is on his ability to read coverages and have a true touch on his passes. My intent isn't to be here insulting everyone, I just wanna talk football. If people wanna bring the Bucs into focus on every thread, I can easily argue points to make you look foolish.

So, relax if ya can... offer the post some enlightenment if you have something to offer and have a good time. Don't get upset over what I say on a issue, just explain why you think differently and I'll do my best to do the same.
