A Possible Jake Delhomme Situation This Season...

Lone Buc Fan

Recommended Posts

This is hypothetical of course and just pertains to this scenario, trying to see what kind of opinions there are..

Say, if the Panthers start the season losing 5 of their first 7 games. With all 3 quarterbacks being in their contract year, do the Panters pull the plug on Jake and end his run as the starting Panther QB... in hopes that the younger guys (Matt Moore and Josh McCown) will pan out for the Panthers at a cheaper price.

Should the plug be pulled on Jake in this type of situation, or do you stick with the guy who has put you in multiple playoff spots?

For Fox to pull Jake he would have to see that Jake isn't making the right reads, throwing the ball poorly, and not audiblizing, etc. He would have dropped off his usual production and clearly there would have to be something wrong. As fans we look at the result of the play and say whose fault it was. As coaches they look at what was called and what should have happened and they evaluate whether it was executed properly. That way they can better establish not only what did happen but what should have happened and why it didn't happen.

Bless you for speaking the truth.

pretty much.

problems lie elsewhere, jake doesn't get pulled. problems are legitimately jake's fault...he gets the rodney peete treatment.

Alright, was curious due to the NFC Championship and not being pulled out during that game. Trying to see the consensus on what people think should be the right move if this were to happen.

There was no way Jake was going to be pulled from the NFC Championship. He wasn't even playing. That's the sort of knowledge we've come to expect from Buc fans.

Unless, of course, the other QBs on the roster are viewed as significantly lesser options. Why make the change if you expect it to make a bad day worse?

this is why you were banned in the first place, could you do a topic that was a little less flame bait???

and the question wouldn't be considered flame bait if it was asked in a different way or if it were asked by a Panthers fan, but because your a bucs fan and because how you asked it, it comes across as flame bait.

    • I'm going with Robinson tonight.
    • I've watched and listened to several evaluations from the good ole youtubers.  From what I was able to watch, the first few drives before I left to do a job to the end of the game were very different for Bryce.  So he had a "good" game.  Which is great.  I love a win, period.  His WRs had some drops, thing ripped away, etc.  Not great, but a W is a W, right? I think the Panthers have to start Bryce.  You have to see if he continues to build on the good plays and make fewer and fewer bad plays.  No QB is going to play a perfect game.  But we need to continue to see Bryce make plays.  Does he have the ability to will his team to victory?  I'm not sure. I'm still in the Bryce is a backup QB camp.  I'm glad he had a good game, I glad we won, but I need to see more before we make a decision to keep or trade him.  Playing Andy literally does NOTHING to help you for the future.  Andy may not even resign with the Panthers.  We could be out both starting QBs by the time FA/Draft season hits. Ultimately, this is a Dan Morgan and Dave Canales issue.  Can they get value out of Bryce to help them improve the total roster?  Is there a FA QB who would be an upgrade?  A surprise cut or post season trade?  Or is there a QB at the top of the draft who they think they can mold into a high level starting QB?  I don't know. I do know I want to see more of Bryce Young and more out of him on the field.  I want to see the fire, the competitor come out.  I want him getting pissed.  I want him to grab his beanbag and tell us all he's the f'ing dude.  I just don't think we'll see that out of Bryce.  If not the fire, then let me see the ice - let me see the rattle proof dude who kills with accuracy and playmaking no matter how hot and crazy it gets.
