My mock draft...

Donald LaFell

Recommended Posts

I admire your courage to do a mock that strays from the norm but a LB with our second pick is a stretch when we have holes on the DL. If we somehow had addressed the holes on DL then I would like the mock more. But hey you did good research, looked at the BPA and were looking to the future so you have what it takes to be a good scout/GM.

Yeah but Bell is just god awful.

Totally forgot about him.

Lol Bell was far from "god awful." You know who was "god awful"..?

Travelle Wharton. Who was rated as one of the worse pass protectors of 2011 by virtually almost every player evaluation sit. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how Hangartner performed.

So you're essentially pinning all your hopes on Travelle Wharton having a massive turn around and Geoff Schwartz becoming elite, all because we can't dare draft a player at a position "you're not supposed" to take.

no OG in the first, please.

thanks.

i wouldn't be happy with this draft at all.

we go exclusively BPA after we've got the defense so it at least doesn't suck.

after we have built a more complete team we will then have the luxury of going exclusively BPA. until then we have to address needs.

Link please.

I read that Wharton was rated as one of the worst OGs in the NFL by a stat based website, but that just confirms my belief that stats don't work with American Football. Nor do they work for 'soccer'.

Reiff is the only o-lineman I would consider in the first and that's if he's there.

Also, I really like David...but not for the Panthers. I think we need someone who's more flexible to match up in our 3-4 hybrid/sub sets against the bigger TEs in the league.

So we have our first round pick sit on the bench behind Otah and even possibly Bell.

Meanwhile, RG still has a lack of talent and we continue to be massacred at that area.

But hey, at least we didn't use a draft pick on a position you're not "supposed" to, even if it meant forgoing superior talent.

Schwartz was playing damn well before the injury, I feel good assuming he'll pick up where he left off.

OG is a easy position to fill. you do not need elite at the spot, just decent.

you also don't have to have elite OT if you have elite guard play, look at the saints. Their two OT's are average at best, but they have the two best guards in the NFL. You put DeCastro beside of Bell/Otah and they both immediately look better. Fixes the protection issues on the right side of the Oline and allows the team to release Wharton (saving the team 7+ million dollars) and move Hangartner or Schwartz to LG. (which ever the team resigns as they both are FA)

It really is a very good draft move, it would give the team more freedom when they are currently up against or over the cap.

Schwartz is a RFA but I think you put more into your OT spot.those OGs for the saints could not help vs the DEs of the 49ers, and the C usually helps the OG.while for the most part your OTs are 1on1.
