I disagree. I think that "coverage" linebackers are going to become more prevalent in the future, since the league is emphasizing the passing game so much.

I would like to see TD start, but ONLY if he restructures his contract in a way that protects the team if he goes down, but will pay him nice incentives if he can stay healthy.

I think that he would make that sacrifice in order to remain a Panther. With his injury history, I think he knows that he isnt going to get a better deal anywhere else, and that he is going to get cut if he doesnt restructure.

I think that we keep Senn as a quality backup, and as insurance for Davis if he doesnt make it.

I honetly dont think that we will draft a LB until at least rounds 4 because with the return of Beason and Davis, we have much more urgent needs elsewhere, like Safety and CB.

Round 3 or 4 we will draft a LB, but I am not certain if he will be insurance for Davis, or insurance for Beason, because we will probably lose Connor which leaves us with no back-up at MLB if Beason's achilles doesnt heal properly. At least Davis has a capable backup...

They won't restructure Davis, most likely they will waive him outright and then resign him to a different contract. if you restructure you usually have to convert money into a signing bonus unless Davis willingly forfeits the 5.9 bonus. Chances are that given the circumstances we won't even want to honor the other parts of the contract.

we already have 2 linebackers who are good at it. we need someone who's best dimension is getting at the QB. You're better off bringing the heat than trying to get coverage sacks on Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers.

Playing coverage against elite QBs is useless. Rules are too offense friendly. You have to hit them. Anybody watch the NO-SF game?

I would love to give TD one chance but we need to plan on him not returning. I don't want us to draft a LB with the top 2 picks but maybe in the 4th or later round and maybe a FA. I think we could do alright with Williams, Senn, and Gaither behind Davis. I would honestly rather see our secondary fixed before fixing our LB core. I really want to know if Beason is going to be 100% next season.
