The Weakside Linebacker postion thread

I would cut my losses with TD. The hit that took him out this year was fairly routine. That tells me the knee just cannot hold up in this game, and that was before his latest surgery. One can assume the knee is weaker now.

I'd love t see us trade down in the first, pick up a mid to late round LB. Hurney has shown he can draft LBs with relative ease. Pick up a third rounder in the trade and stock the OL

I think everyone hopes that TD can come back but are skeptical. In the liklihood he won't make it back, we have to pick someone to take his spot. Unless Senn gets faster and more atletic in the offseason he isn't the answer. We need someone who can cover running backs out of the backfield and fly around. That requires someone with Davis' skill sets and you won't get that outside of the first 2 or 3 rounds or in free agency. Linebackers in McDermott's scheme are very important and the reason the sucked this year. If we want to improve then this position needs to be a priority. With Beason and Anderson in there, we need this piece taken care of.

I would be happy if we decided to pick up someone in the second or signing someone in free agency. In my view, solidifying that position may be more important than picking up a DT. Even if Davis makes it back, we need excellent depth given we can't escape the injury bug.

I don't have specific names given the draft process is still very rather flexible especially after round 1, but I see this need right behind a second corner unless Hogan can fill the need.

really really hate it for TD, great guy and was a phenomenal player.

I say you try to bring him back, but like Zod said the hit that re-injured his knee this year wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

I like Zach Brown, but wouldn't draft him unless he falls to the second or we trade back into the late first (he is going to blow up at the combine, was the fastest guy on the UNC team).

Senn proved he was serviceable, but I don't know if he is a starter or simply a quality back up.

Anyways great thread, should be interesting to see how the situation is handled.
