Book suggestions

Im going to be at sea for three weeks with nothing to do but read and write. I need book suggestions... genres if any type will do. Preferably thought provoking stuff.

Since you are going to be at sea, I'd suggest anything by Clive Cussler.

Here's a book I really like, Torchlight by Robert Louis Stevenson III, the grandson of RLS who wrote Treasure Island.

He followed this up, but I have't read it, Bright Star.

Both are old, (Pre-2000) so you may have to search Amazon.

If you want to read a more self/soul searching book, try LIFE 101. This book gives men and women why we act/do like we do.

Clive Cussler books are great; a SUPERB military book based on a true story that's coming to the big screen next Spring is Lone Survivor- I consider it a must read.

i am a huge RLS fan... i haven't read treasure island since childhood and i'm bringing it with me. i love classic adventure novels. i will probably bring kidnapped too.

i have heard of cussler but i couldn't name a single thing he's written.

Christopher Moore - Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove and Dirty Jobs. Both are hysterical and they are paranormal.

Pick up an ereader before you go and download all the books. You can get a kindle for $79. You won't need internet access to read them.

Quick, easy read that is fulfilling, thought provoking and quite reassuring especially given the "source" of the information.

If you've never read any Christopher Moore, I highly recommend anything he's written. He's probably the funniest author that I've ever had the pleasure to read. "Lamb" would be a good one to start with.

Life of Pi is my favorite book of the last few years. Fitting since you will be at sea. Warning though it takes about 100 pages to get going.

What are your interest? If you like history with a bit of fiction thrown in, "The Killer Angels" is one of the best books ever written imo.
