Pretty good pick up for the Eagles if you ask me. Relatively young Pro Bowl tackle for a late first round pick, and a second day pick...that's a steal if you ask me. I guess Buffalo was really unhappy with him and the whole contract situation.

Yowsah...I bet fans in the Illadelph are pissed...no Boldin!

I'd be pretty happy getting a pro bowl LT for a late 1st and 4th. Plus, they can still trade a 1st and 3rd for Boldin (or Peppers) if they want. That'd be a crazy offseason to bring in two pro-bowlers and still have your 2nd round pick for draft day.

I'm not an expert on the Bills by any stretch, but I would have to think the trade leaves a hole at OT for them. The Eagles were probably going to use one of their 1st rounders on an OT and now the Bills may use the pick on the same player the Eagles would have taken. May have no effect the draft whatsoever.

One positive spin for the Panthers, if we do end up trading Peppers to the Eagles this guarantees we get their higher 1st rounder and not the #28 overall.

Well, if you are in support of hanging on to Peppers then this is a good day because Philly was rumored to be one of two destinations Peppers was really interested in.

I highly doubt Philly will trade away both 1st round picks this year... and it's important to remember that Philly has already been burned once by bringing in a big-time expensive FA DE... so they may be a little gun-shy. If Philly was going to make another big trade, I'd expect it to be for either Bolden or Ocho Cinco.

I've believed all along that the Panthers have ZERO intention of trading Peppers and Hurney's comments the other day + Peppers recent silence have made me believe that even more. Peppers has realized the Panthers are not going to trade him and now he's doing the best thing he can, which is to keep his mouth shut and let things play out. There's no sense in him digging an even deeper hole for himself with the Panthers and the fans by making more noise about wanting to leave at this point because it's very likely that he would have to eat those words on opening day.

Getting Gross under contract was checkmate for Peppers, he has very little leverage under the franchise tag unless he's really willing to make an ass out of himself - and I just don't see him going that far with this thing. I don't think we'll see a pre-draft or draft day trade because honestly I don't think there is anyone in this draft class that the Panthers are that crazy about - or would value more than having Peppers this year.

Having said that, if someone offered Carolina two first round picks for Peppers I think they would strongly consider it, but I don't see anyone offering that for him. He's 29, has been inconsistent and the whole shy personality thing I'm sure concerns other teams when faced with the prospect of throwing high draft picks and a ton of cash out the window for his services.

Personally I like this approach, too many times organizations let players intimidate them will all the tough talk and posturing. The Panthers have handled this very calmly, quietly and deliberately.

I agree that there's nobody in the draft this year that the Panthers value more than Peppers. However, if Peppers refuses to sign a long term contract, I think we'd be willing to trade him for the right offer. We really can't afford to franchise him every year and getting a 1st rounder plus more is better than having Peppers for ONE season.

Looking at the DE class this year, I can definitely see a team that's looking to use their 1st on a DE trading for Peppers instead. My guess is that we will get a 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with either the 2nd or 3rd being in 2010.

As for Hurney's comments about keeping Peppers. He pretty much has to say that. If he states there is zero chance of Peppers returning, it drives his trade value down considerably.

don't want our top paid player to be an O Lineman, not even at LT. This whole notion of LT being the 2nd most important position is relatively new, and I just disagree with it. It's a talking point for sports radio and color analysts. For that kind of money, you can get real difference makers, guys that have the ball in their hands or stud LB's.

Really, what has having a good LT gotten us the last two years? I'm convinced that the playmakers make the O Line look good or bad, and that's been our problem - our playmakers haven't been good enough.

Use the Pats and Colts model... Get good players along the lines, but don't let them eat up your pay

      I've watched and listened to several evaluations from the good ole youtubers.  From what I was able to watch, the first few drives before I left to do a job to the end of the game were very different for Bryce.  So he had a "good" game.  Which is great.  I love a win, period.  His WRs had some drops, thing ripped away, etc.  Not great, but a W is a W, right? I think the Panthers have to start Bryce.  You have to see if he continues to build on the good plays and make fewer and fewer bad plays.  No QB is going to play a perfect game.  But we need to continue to see Bryce make plays.  Does he have the ability to will his team to victory?  I'm not sure. I'm still in the Bryce is a backup QB camp.  I'm glad he had a good game, I glad we won, but I need to see more before we make a decision to keep or trade him.  Playing Andy literally does NOTHING to help you for the future.  Andy may not even resign with the Panthers.  We could be out both starting QBs by the time FA/Draft season hits. Ultimately, this is a Dan Morgan and Dave Canales issue.  Can they get value out of Bryce to help them improve the total roster?  Is there a FA QB who would be an upgrade?  A surprise cut or post season trade?  Or is there a QB at the top of the draft who they think they can mold into a high level starting QB?  I don't know. I do know I want to see more of Bryce Young and more out of him on the field.  I want to see the fire, the competitor come out.  I want him getting pissed.  I want him to grab his beanbag and tell us all he's the f'ing dude.  I just don't think we'll see that out of Bryce.  If not the fire, then let me see the ice - let me see the rattle proof dude who kills with accuracy and playmaking no matter how hot and crazy it gets.
