Cam Newton was on Boomer and Carton this AM!

I usually wake up and watch Boomer and Cartons live simulcast of their radio show every morning and who comes in and sits down with them at the Super Bowl in Indy? Big #1. Great interview, Cam wasen't political he was very real as you can gain a sense of comfort with Carton who is hilarious and Boomer of course being a former professional athlete. Some tidbits i can recall:

-Carton asked Cam if he was nervous during his first game and when did it hit him that he was an NFL QB, to which Cam responded that he was alittle nervous yet calm, and that when they were standing there during teh national anthem he looked around and was like " Im an NFL player, this is real"

-Carton Talked about Smitty being very supportive from the beginning in regards to Cam, and if Smitty tested him when they first talked/met cause he comes off as a hard personality. Cam said Smitty on the phone sounded like he was this 7 foot beast, but laughed that when they met he was very much 5'9. Said the guy is absolutely incredible and wants the ball on every play and makes it known. Said Smitty had 3 rules:

One on One " Im wide open ", Two-On One " I'm open ", Three-On One, " Just throw it up im Steve Smith man!" i was laughing when Cam was running through this part..

-Cam said the speed of the NFL is not a problem to him, its just getting used to the athleticism that some of the corners and safeties have. He said in college he could throw a questionable ball and the CB would most likely drop it, in the NFL they are almost WR's back there. He singled out Charles Woodson saying that Charles made him realize just how good these guys are, and how careful he has to be with the football. He went on to say that his number one goal for himself is to not turn the ball over as much, and the number one goal for the Panthers is to finish games. Said the Arizona and Packers games we were up big and we have to finish those games out.

-They finished with Carton asking him how it was to spend a day with Tom Brady shooting the under armor commercial, Cam said it was incredible and they talked a lot about being a winner. Cam said he tailors his game around Tom Brady and watches film on him. They laughed at how Boomer saw Cam at a youth camp thing when Cam was in 9th grade. They were both throwing the ball around and Cam told Boomer " Your pretty good man" to which Boomer replied, " Yea i played some ball in my day lol" Cam had no idea who he was at the time...

All around very funny interview, Cam was great and it was fun waking up in the NY tri-state area and seeing my great Panthers QB on TV. Great exposure for Cam as it is the #1 morning show in NYC and broadcast on the MSG ( Madison Square Garden ) network.

At the Very Very end when they said goodbye to Cam, Boomer says " Remember that smile Craig, cause that's the future face of the NFL for years to come" Cam put his hands together in a prayer like motion and just smiled with his eyes closed..
