2009 NFL Vegas Odds

Recommended Posts

First time I've seen Vegas take a crack at the NFL for 2009...not sure of source, I copy and pasted this from another sports forum and lost the header. If you take it as an NFL ranking, of sorts, we're 8th. Wow, look how low Buffalo is! I think the "+" amounts are what you could win on a $100 bet...

New England Patriots +775

Pittsburgh Steelers +900

Indianapolis Colts +1200

New York Giants +1225

Dallas Cowboys +1300

San Diego Chargers +1550

Philadelphia Eagles +1900

Carolina Panthers +2000

Tennessee Titans +2000

Minnesota Vikings +2200

Baltimore Ravens +2300

New Orleans Saints +2300

Atlanta Falcons +2500

Chicago Bears +2500

Arizona Cardinals +3000

Green Bay Packers +3000

Jacksonville Jaguars +3000

Washington Redskins +3300

Denver Broncos +4500

Houston Texans +4500

New York Jets +4500

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +4500

Seattle Seahawks +4800

Miami Dolphins +5500

Buffalo Bills +6000

Cleveland Browns +7500

Kansas City Chiefs +7500

San Francisco 49ers +7500

Cincinnati Bengals +10000

Oakland Raiders +12500

Detroit Lions +20000

St. Louis Rams +20000

Cowboys at #5

That's more to do with the fact that people will still bet on them, rather than Vegas actually thinking they are that good. Same way they give Cowboys a huge spread every week because they know stupid Cowboys fans will still bet on them. I made a killing last year betting against the Cowboys. Even when the 'boys win, they almost never beat the ridiculous spread they get.

Way too much Cowboy love there.

It's always going to be like that as long as the Cowboys are "America's team" and there are a bunch of clueless Cowboy fans running around. Vegas' deal when they have a "fan favorite" team like that, is to push the odds as badly in their favor as they can get away with. They usually make a killing in these situations.

Same thing with Notre Dame.
