I haven't really looked into this, but I imagine it's pretty simple.. saw this earlier and thought it might help.

turns out they give you a https://sites.google.com/site/yourname type url, so you may need to buy a domain and redirect the page to the google site. but still, this looks pretty easy to put together.

I strongly recommend staying away from GoDaddy. I used them for a number of years, until they let one of my clients change my admin password and credit card payment information. It was an inexcusable breach of security.

For simple, do it yourself, Wordpress is a good option. I also like the idea of getting a local HS kid to do it. Gives them some experience in doing a live site. Since you don't want to have online purchasing, there's really no danger of a novice screwing something up. I've been developing multimedia and web based content since the early 90s when the only tool we had was a text editor.
