Kiper's Latest Mock: Brockers to Panthers

Kiper is such an idiot. Not that I disagree with Brockers but for him to say "he'll never be a great pass rusher" is ignorant. Any DT that can get through the middle of the line and get pressure up the middle consistently is automatically a great pass rusher because of the angle. I think Brockers has a lot of potential to be a great DT he just turned 22...

Right now I still think that if Coples does well at the combine then he's the better pick

yeah, not agreeing with kiper on that part at all.

not sold on coples, though. that's one i'd really have to rely on the panthers vetting him.

My confidence in Coples is based on Rivera thinking he's going to give his best effort every week. If Rivera doesn't think that is the case then don't take him...but I honestly think that could be a legitimate worry for a number of players in the draft every year. People had the same concern about Cam this time last year.

But when it comes to overall ability and upside I think the Coples is the best defender in the draft outside of Morris Claiborne. Just too much size, speed, and strength...Get him to play hard every snap and teach him how to play properly and it'll be a well-spent #8 pick.

what's interesting about Brockers, is that if he stayed for his junior season he would probably be a top 10 if not top 5 pick in the 2013 draft, and half the fuging morons on this board would be saying, "GUYS WE SHOULD TRADE UP FOR BROCKERS BECAUSE WE NEED A STUD DT" "GUYS WHY DIDN'T WE TANK THE SEASON FOR A HIGHER PICK SO WE COULD GET BROCKERS?!" "GUYS WE SHOULD GET BROCKERS NO MATTER WHAT IT COSTS US!", but of course he's not worth the 8th overall pick this year.

I trust our FO's ability to dig deep into character, physical attributes, and mostly heart (the love of football). How many interviews did Cam go through?

I think the key to a succesful player is having the physical structure to be an NFL player, along with wanting to be the best.

From what I've heard through articles, Brockers loves this game. Add that he's 6'6" 306 and played DT for 1 year, I think he's worth it.

How could anybody think our secondary is more important when we couldnt get anywhere near opposing qbs? People forget real quick who plays in our division...hell, even our conference. Pass rushes are premium over Dbs anyday, trying to develop a backfield over a line is just doing it backwards. This defense has no strength now unlike the past years, so when u dont, u always start in one area preferably the line and work your way to other areas adding TALENT thats available not guys who "could" develop into something down the road. You gotta take the chance.
