Why no local interviews by Cam?

I think everyone is aware that Cam is in Indy for obligations; but, it would not hurt to do an interview with on or two with local TV stations in the Carolinas on his return.

We are the people who buy tickets and I think we would like to hear what he has to say.

I know I would.

What is he going to say differently on a NC radio show that he isn't saying on the National sports shows? And how is he not showing his fans love by doing these national tv shows?

I think we need to get Mick and Eugene on the case.

Does your tv not work or do you not have the internet? Could you not hear one of the many interviews he's done over the last few days? These local guys are just trying to cash in on Cam Newton doing this national interviews and trying to take advantage of gullible fans. These local guys do not care about the fans, they are just trying to get ratings.

His publicist very likely makes these decisions and after listening to WFNZ how could you blame them. They decided to go cheap on the talent side and now they don't have one single legitimate host on that station. Gary Williams was probably the only one they ever had since Czaban left.

However, 730 is actually very respectable. Everyone they have is solid. That's where Newton needs to be doing local interviews if he is going to do them anywhere.

What exactly is a local interviewer going to ask that hasn't been asked this week in the ongoing national interviews?

I dunno...maybe....How do you like Charlotte? Stuff that relates to the city....stuff that Charlotteans would be interested in hearing

Why do I care whether he likes it or not? And what do you think he will say no matter what his true feelings? Do you think he is going to say anything but things are great, he loves it here, yada, yada, yada. What he says on air is a persona. It could have nothing to do with his real feelings.

Same old, same old he is feeding everyone and folks are lapping up. Probably does these interviews back to back all day long. His biggest challenge is to stay awake and act like its new and different.

So you mean fluff that he will give a cookie cutter answer to that no one really cares about. It's not like being on a stupid radio show is going to provide some great insight.

It's not just about you p55. :)

It endears him more to the people in the area. People also want to get to see the personal side of Cam. He's on his way to being the biggest athlete in Charlotte sports history and Charlotte has an inferiority complex at times.

    • First on T-Mac, I 100% expect him to be the top WR from this class, however I think expecting him to put up 1k+ as a rookie isn't necessarily fair, especially since you're putting it in perspective of how many other rookie WRs have done that in recent years. And Thielen is the reason for that. Not many (if any) of those 1k+ rookies had someone like Thielen there when they were drafted, and no matter how good T-Mac is this year, Bryce is still going to lean on his existing chemistry with Thielen unless he's drastically lost a step this offseason and just can't get open like he's been able to in his career. As I pointed out in another thread the other day, looking at MHJ last year is the way to look at T-Mac's season if Thielen plays a full and healthy season.  MHJ had McBride "steal" 110+ catches and 1,100+ yards in what was a pass happy offense (Kyler was 9th in the league in attempts), it's going to be hard for any rookie to put up more than the 800ish yards he had last year in that scenario.  Especially if we follow a similar game plan to last year and be a run heavy team. In terms of XL, you're completely right, jumping up to get a project 2/3 isn't smart, and if we knew we needed a future slot from that pick, yes, Ladd would have been a much better pick. But at this point, those are all sunk costs, even taking T-Mac at 8 is now considered a sunk cost. Forgetting the past or who we maybe should have taken last year now knowing future roles, I still think T-Mac, XL, Coker can be one of the Top 1-3 WR rooms in the NFL in a few years, I honestly think they really do have that potential in them.
