Look, its all about how you can manipulate the numbers. Not only that but there will be roster moves made.

Someone you least expect will be cut or traded before the draft. We will unload or restructure several deals.

I am not sure that he is the type player you bring in when you have some budding talent in house thoug. He does not seem like the teacher, nurturer our guys like Applewhite, Hardy, etc. would benefit from.

Just like Favre would never have been a good move for Jimmy the Pick and Keyshawn (my personal belief) quite possibly discouraged the careers of Colbert, Jarret, and Cater (or at least one of them) some players are not right. This is not a knock on Williams at all I just think the timing is wrong and it would send the wrong message. The championship teams build youth and the perennial @.500 teams are constantly playing catch-up and rely on the big FA splash model.

as much as I love double trouble, I agree with this completely.

RB would be the very next position, and a close second place that I fully endorse spending the cash after DE.

I have been soundly criticized for bringing up trading Stewart to someone before or during the upcoming draft.

But, not only would it give us another draft pick or two, but free up some money for FA's like possibly Mario. Everyone wants to PooPoo the idea of trading Stewart, but what if you think of it in terms of trading Stewart for the chance of getting Williams?

I agree here, just too much youth that is unproven but has tape from last year. Some of these guys that got their first real battle scars last year and went down early or got bashed for not being immediate difference makers. This year they all have an offseason full of OTA's and an intact coaching staff to mold them.

I am excited about some of these guys that are still young along our defense. I have not given up on guys like Kearse, Keiser, Neblett, Applewhite, Hogan, and even Fua.

I believe in McDermott and Riv working together again. If they bring in a couple studs in the draft and stir the pot we are looking for a big jump IMO with built in depth.

Think beyond next season.

Are you going to resign Stewart? If so, he will cost much more then 2.6 per season. If you sign Mario, you let his hit me smaller in the first season. That goes for any great DE or OLB we might sign. The draft is lean in these two categories so FA is the way to go.
