McDonald's Drops 'Pink Slime' From Burgers

McDonald's is no longer using the controversial ground beef filler known as "pink slime."

“Pink slime" is spare beef trimmings treated with ammonium hydroxide. The ammonium hydroxide is used to kill any bacteria in the trimmings.

McDonald's move comes after TV chef Jamie Oliver made public calls for restaurant chains to stop using it.

As gross as it sounds, the additive is approved by the Department of Agriculture.
