You also have to consider that Facebook isn't just a social networking site, it's a gaming platform now, as well. Companies like Zynga have made Facebook worth even more money, but providing games like FarmVille, etc. on the Facebook platform.

Facebook is going to around for a long, long time.

They're expected to pay 1 billion members this year. That is simply a staggering number.

Facebook controls about 16% of all banner advertisements on the web now. They have unparalleled user details. Advertisers will not let them die. They are an advertisers dream. Google can collect user search data, but they do not know gender, age, sexual preference, etc like Facebook does (assuming the user gives all that information to Facebook).
