Next year is win-win.

If we play well and are in the hunt at the end Fox will be here for the future. Everyone wants to win a Championship but in the end only 1 team does. If that were the litmus test for every coach, there would be a turnover of 31 coaches every year.

You keep Fox because he is a good coach and the team wins many more than they lose. After all how long did it take Cowher for example to win a Super bowl? How many did he win after that one? By many of the huddlers here, Cowher should have been canned long before he won one.

cowher had 3 seasons below .500 out of 15.

fox has had 3 out of 7

cowher had his team go into the playoffs in all but 5 years out of 15.

fox has had his team go to the playoffs in all but 4 of his 7.

cowher had his team win the division championship in 9 of his 15 years (60%)

fox has had his team win the division championship in 3 out of 7 (43%)

cowher had his team go back to back with seasons >.500 8 times.

fox has not had back to back >.500 seasons.

one of these guys i would have a bit more patience with. i'm not saying we need to be showing him the door yet, but we should be keeping an eye on it. if fox can get us back to back winning seasons...i'm open to the idea of him staying. if not....i'm ready to find someone who can.

btw....i don't know if you have noticed this but there actually is a ton of coaching turnover. this year we will have 15 coaches who have been HC teams for less than 2 years. 2 of those 15 have had HC jobs before.

there will be 17 with 3 or less years as HCs if you add in tomlin and wisenhunt. 21 with 4 or less years (payton, mccarthy, kubiak, childress) as their teams HC.

the message is clear from most teams...if you can't get us where we want to go and keep us legit contenders, we'll try and get someone who can.

There are several SB winning HCs that aren't coaching this season. Why would that be? Well, even they run their course with their franchises after a bit either by their choice or the team's. A trophy buys a guy some time, obviously. Sometimes too much time (Shanny perhaps).

That said, I think change could happen if the team fails spectacularly and by that I mean hasn't gone deep into the playoffs at all after this year. If the powers that be think the players aren't buying into Fox anymore and they see what they feel is a better alternative they should make the change. After 2009 he will have coached the Cats for 8 years which I think is a fair time to evaluate if it's time to go or not sans SB win or another SB appearance.

I do think that by and large, coaches are fired too quickly and/or the decision on who to hire is made in glaring error. I.E Petrino. Who thought that would have a snowball's chance of working...EVER?

i agree with this. there are some situations that decisions are made hastily but i don't think that the panthers are one of those teams. fox has had quite a bit of time to get us a ring and his inability to even string together consecutive winning seasons doesn't bode well for him. he has another chance, let's make it count. if he doesn't then i wouldn't count on him being here much longer. they won't fire him, they'll just not re-sign him to another contract.

Yup and the best part about it, I'll be here whether the Bucs win the division or not and whether Carolina beats them or not. It'll be more satisifying to hear everyone continue to make excuses why their team is so awesome and still no Super Bowl ring.

The Panthers now remind me of the old Buffalo Bills, aside the whole multiple super bowl appearances and the whole multiple consecutive winning seasons lol...

The Bucs came about in 1976. The got their lone Super Bowl ring in 2003. I think we got some time before we're trashed by the Bucs as being worthless...

I also agree with those that thinking there is a better coach willing to come to the Panthers out there is full of poo. Just because Cowher lives in Raleigh does not mean he wants to come coach the Panthers, or even coach at all for that matter. You're letting your desires dictate your reason. Understandable, but shortsighted..

The argument here was having one... not the idea of how long a team has been around. Last I checked there are a few teams from the 70s and before without a ring yet... You guys have already have 13 years to win one and have always fell short. Took Tampa what 26 seasons to get one? Meaning you guys are already half at that point.

I guess people can just continue to hope for the best, just too many teams with talent that outweighs and stops the Panthers from winning the ring this year, just like years past.

All these people calling for Fox's head are killing me. The man gave us the franchise we now argue over being contenders. Am I the only one that remembers what it was like before Fox?

I ask myself the same thing all the time on here, the Panthers before Fox was a scary thing

that's what is so funny....6 playoff wins in 32 years and we have 6 in 13. took them 26 years to get to their first superbowl appearance and it took us 9? sure they got the ring but would they have gotten that if they didn't have the raiders playbook? doubtful.

bucs...proof that if you give enough monkeys enough typewriters for enough years you might have something worth reading.

Don't forget the fact that you guys lost your first super bowl appearance too... that game was a classic. I wonder how long it'll take before you guys actually develop any part of your team that is undeniably the best at what it does.

Even your historical running game wasen't a clear cut better running game in the NFL and thats the only notable face of your franchise at this point. Lolz.

we have the best backfield in the NFL next year and that's not up for a debate.

Sure it is... they have to get out on the field and perform. Since everything is about who won more around here, I guess you guys fall atleast 2nd at best behind the Titans right?

I have respect for DeAngelo and all but I'm just going based on the logic you hear in every thread when your speaking on discussions.

Also, it'll take time to show if the Giants fall off the wagon of being ahead of Carolina in the rush department as they might be able to produce random 1,000 yard halfbacks like the Broncos use to do.

Good for you, don't respond if your going to be a pest.

Him a pest? Dude, you have something negative to say about the Panthers in EVERY thread. And the Bucs are invincible. It took you 26 years to win a Super Bowl, yet somehow when we don't win won in our first 13 we are still worse. You criticize everyone for not knowing anything about football in EVERY thread. You whine about people whining in EVERY thread. GO AWAY.
