Speaking of your body, I never got those nudie pics you were gonna PM to me.

I paid J Rock the money and he said they should be on their way....

maybe these pics could pursuade me to rethink my stance as well.....

well, I think most rational people at least can acknowledge life starts before it literally pops out the V. I mean if it can hiccup, punch you, roll over, pee, sleep, etc......you have a live human in your stomach.

Well as you know, not everyone is rational...

I personally think that it starts when the heart starts... even though it cannot survive without the mother until like 6 months at the far earliest. A lot would not agree with me.

I also agree that when women make a choice to engage in sex, they are making the choice that so many seem to rail about... but I still think (and my opinion has changed over the years) that abortion (up to a point, probably the end of the first trimester IMO) should be legal, just not funded by the gov't.

That way, it's legal, women can do it, and the choice they make is on them and no one else, except maybe the Dr that performs it.

I agree that it's a woman's right, there's no way we could make exceptions for all of the scenarios out there.

that said, I sure wish more women would reconsider and at least think of all those couples out there trying desperately to have children of their own that can't.

I don't like it, don't agree with it, but it should be a woman's right to choose. It should not be completely illegal, but the gov't should not endorse nor pay for it.

What they said.

Well this is an odd "Lounge" thread :sosp:

I believe the whole abortion question rises and falls on the one single question you're discussing here. That being "when does life begin?" At whatever point that is, then from that time on, you have to treat it as an independent entity, not a part of someone else's body.

For me, that begins at conception. Others see it differently (including some in the extreme that would argue even a certain period after birth should be allowed). Regardless, that to me is the central point of it all.

This is probably the #1 issue with abortion... no one really has an answer and most people have a different idea of when a baby is a person. Some people think when the heart starts beating, others don't think it is until it's head pops out...

Viability outside of the womb. That is the key. If the fetus is 100% self-viable, then it is a person. As long as it is dependent on the woman for everything inside the womb, it is a parasite, by definition.

I'm all for it.

Reasons:

-Cases like rapes

-Some people aren't fit to be parents

-Some people can't afford the pregnancy, let alone the baby itself

-Shouldn't regulate something like this, as a lot of personal pain and money goes into it.

- do you know how many great people were born to parents who "weren't fit to be parents"?

- do you know how many great/successful people were born to parents that couldn't afford it?

If the parents (or woman) can't handle the responsiblity of a child (which was there CHOICE when they had sex) then they can give it up for adoption. The waiting list for parents wanting to adopt is a mile long.

If you don't want it or can't raise a kid....then choose an option that is best for the child longterm. Once a women chooses to have sex and a heartbeat exists.......I just don't get how so many educated people think someone then has the "right" to choose live or die w/ that life.
