Kiper: Nothing 'pressing' for Panthers

Carolina was on the list of teams interested in Cutler but couldn't make a offer as they didn't have enough tools to acquire him. Thats the only thing that stopped them from being front runners.

Wonder why the Tampa deal never worked out? Oh, they have NOTHING when it comes to the QB position.

Any list that had us as interested was constructed by talking heads who didn't have a clue about our real intentions. We were not going to pay all those picks for him. Only teams that were really interested were desperate. We have our guy for better or worse. If you guys didn't make a big push for him and you have nothing, why would we.

Peppers90 NC

The Tampa deal with Cutler fell through as the Bucs were the first team trying to offer a 1st rounder for Jay in a 3 way trade. It didn't work out though, Jay whined about the implications of being traded... So, the Broncos sat back and bickered to keep him.. then they got great value for him and jumped the gun on it. So yea, Tampa's QB situation had nothing to do with their possible acquisition of Cutler. Maybe you should check into the facts before you try to make a ass out of yourself like you just did.

They did make a push, it was one of the first offers. Got nixed b/c they had no value to give Denver. And you are right, the Panthers FO had no intentions on going after Cutler. He posted in another thread how he knows more about the Panthers than most of us, but said that ignorant commit which loses his little credibility, I think he may be part of Kiper Enterprises.

The only thing we had to trade we can't trade yet.

The talking heads 55 is referring to only assemble a list that are likely candidates. Everyone in football knows that Jake Delhomme sucks out loud so we got put on the list for that reason and that reason only. That may be stupid criteria but it usually is.

Along those same lines its quite comical that a similar list involving more than one team cannot even be pulled out of the air for interest in Julius Peppers.

Kiper knows his college players and can be quite informative from that perspective....now when it comes to translating that knowledge to NFL team needs and strategy thats where he fails

IMO really anyone can be informative at what he dose. Really its not all that hard if you get paid to do it and thats the only thing your payed to do.

"I really thought they might try to move forward with a young quarterback"

"I thought they'd maybe make a splash for Jay Cutler."

Umm.. really? :out:

Is he always this bad?

I admit that he was probably giving our front office too much credit by thinking to himself that we might be smart enough to consider a trade for Culter. But it's the right idea.

Instead, we continue to use the same players who make the same mistakes and expect different results.

Same players? Really? We had the most aggressive draft of any team last year to bring in Stewart and Otah....

Oh, and I'd be perfectly happy with the same result (at least in the regular season) 12-4 in '09 sounds pretty good to me.

Same players = primarily I'm talking about Jake.

Yes, 12-4 is going to sound as if it would have been pretty good after this season is over. So will 10-6, and 9-7 probably....
