The Jazz Thread

I find myself getting more and more into jazz as of late. Something soothing and calming about it. I listen to a smooth jazz station on Pandora just to pass the time at work or wherever.

Does anyone have any specific recommendations for jazz (such as websites or artists)? I'm looking for more smooth jazz, something light and soothing. Maybe if I find stuff I like I can start building a jazz collection on my iTunes/iPhone.

Appreciate the suggestions.

Jazz has the unique ability to pick you up or mellow you out.

R & B has it's roots in Jazz as does Swing.

If you want to go old school, try Billie Holiday. If you want to go new school, try Brian Setzer (without the Stray Cats)

My Pandora shuffle consists of Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Wynton Marsalis. Gives me a great mix of the greats.
