Hey guys check out NFL Draft Worlds 3 round mock draft http://nfl-draft-world.com/

Pick 9

Carolina Panthers

Offense Rank 7: Passing rank 13, Rushing rank 3

Defense Rank 27: Passing rank 24, Rushing rank 25

Team needs:

Cam Newton has taken the league by storm and has single handily brought the Panther back from the dead. Carolina has several pressing needs on defense and will need to give their dynamic QB some weapons at the wide receiver spot as Steve Smith had an amazing year last year but he is getting up there in age. Brandon LaFell is a decent started but is does not have the speed and size to be a future number one receiver.

Alshon Jeffery has all tools to become a dominant WR for years to come he has size to impose his will on CBs (6’4”, 229) and set his school record with 3,042 yards receiving over three seasons.

With the 9th pick the Carolina Panthers select:

Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

I would be shocked and appalled if the Panthers took Jeffery with the #8/9 pick.

I think Jeffery will rise back up the board between #12-20, that being said we have more pressing needs and better players will be available at 8/9. I'd be amazed if we select anything other than Claiborne if he falls by the grace of God, an offensive tackle, or arguably our biggest need, defensive linemen.

No. Because we already took him at #8/9 :) But if for some reason we took someone else (Claiborne was available) then yes, I would. Might could get him for just next year's 2nd round pick (with this year's too). The Saints gave up a 1st and 2nd for Ingram, but they were picking low in the 2nd.

Claiborne and Brockers would be an insane draft for us, I wouldn't mind giving up next year's 2nd at all.

Plus, LaFell is 6'2" and 211 lbs with speed comparable to Jeffrey, if not a smidge better. I don't see how one is better suited to be a #1 than the other. Let's not even mention Gettis at 6'3" 216 lbs who's a speedster.

No, I wouldn't trade up for Brockers. Too much talent at CB on the board to chace a DT I'm not convinced we even need.

I can't see that happening, but I'm tired of trading up. Last three people we traded up for are Everette Brown, AE and Otah. By his own admission Hurney tried desperately to trade up for Clausen. Thank God that didn't happen or there likely wouldn't have been a pick for Cam.

If we do land Claiborne in the first there are still several good DT's that will be there at 40. But I don't see DT as a need and would much rather score an OLB.

You watched the Carolina Panthers last year, right? ;)

I also know we have 3 DT's coming off IR and picked up some others that showed some real potential at the end of the season. The revolving door at that position and at LB had a lot to do with our problems,

Rivera also said he liked our group of DT's, so I doubt the team sees it as much of a need either.

One of those is an NFL journeyman and the other two had disappointing rookie seasons.

I hope Rivera is blowing smoke up everyone's ass or we're in trouble.
