Walker had a triple-double tonight

Implied Volatility

If we are talking MKG or Barnes, its Barnes all day long. No question.

Kembo-Hendo-Barnes-Tyrus-Bismack would make for a bright future. Throw in Mullens, DJ White, and Reggie Williams(I cant wait to see him play tonight, he can shoot lights out) and another draft and FA. This team will be in the playoffs.

real excited to see williams play...with walker's penetration it should open up the three.

the thing that concerns me about barnes on the next level is his ability to create a shot off the dribble or lack of it from what i've seen from him so far at carolina. i see more glen rice in his game(not a bad thing by the way) than future nba supertar that the cats need to complement walker

hes got lift, he shoots in peoples face quite often, but ill agree hes not very good off the dribble

if Barnes is considered a top 2-3 prospect theres no way this draft is talented or deep. I prefer my top 3 picks to be elite at SOMETHING, and no, high efficiency low volume 3pt shooting is not even close to enough. Barnes isn't elite at anything. somehow his stock has only dropped from 1-2 to 4-5 despite having mid 1st round production and mediocre intangibles (athleticism, drive, aggressiveness, leadership etc). pre-draft hype still helping him a bit

he'll be an average NBA swingman fringe-starter good-6man but you aim for a little more with a top 3 pick right?

gimme Davis, Drummond for bigs but if we really are forced to settle for a swingman get MKG who has much better intangibles, and a few elite skills for his position (defense and rebounding mainly). You have a lot better chance of a guy turning from a decent jumpshooter into a good one than a guy all of a sudden learning all the advantages MKG has over Barnes.

Yes, like I have stated, I like MKG for what he brings to to the rebounding and defensive side.

You look around the league and almost every team has a superstar, even the bad teams. I am just saying Barnes has a better chance of turning into a superstar than MKG. I trust Barnes to take over a game more than I trust MKG to take over a game. That's why I think he is a better fit.

You can develop into a better shooter

ask

Raja Bell

Bruce Bowen

Gerald Wallace and Henderson

Gerald Wallace, a good shooter?

Harrison Barnes is more likely to develop into a better, more aggressive ball handler and attacker of the basket due to his ability to shoot already. His ability to put the ball on the floor (vs Va Tech) is further along than MKG's shooting ability. Gerald Henderson was a better shooter at Duke than MKG is now, and he has taken three plus years to develop a reliable mid range jumper. Being more aggressive is merely a mindset.

Getting the rim isn't necessarily a direct result of good handles. Guys can get to the rim off pump fakes, movement without the basketball, and (in some cases) having a post game. I see Barnes, worst case, being like a Jamal Mashburn.

In the long run I wouldn't be upset with either..and MKG may develop a good enough jumper to become a star. I do feel that this team has enough athletic wings who can't shoot already. With a PG like Kemba who can penetrate the paint and get anywhere on the floor when he wants, the shooters will ultimately benefit more. Luol Deng can't dribble very well and has had a very good career.

You're just a Barnes fan seeing stuff that isn't there.

If you don't attack the basket reg. it's not in your nature. Going to the basket is a mind set. You have to like to do it. Barnes has shown more of a dislike for the rough stuff near the basket. MKG has shown early that he likes to get dirty and attack the big boys.

Plus again you're still missing the Defense and rebounding that MKG does and Barnes doesn't.

Still would not consider him a good shooter, especially not something to aim for if I was expecting something similar out of MKG.

Good example for comparisom\

Gerald Henderson = Better all around

Wayne Ellington = better shooter and offense

Who is the better pro right now?

That's not the point.

We are talking about a top 3 pick, not someone who is a complimentary player. What this team needs is someone that will provide offense on a consistent basis. Someone who you can turn to in the final seconds. Not hating on MKG, just think the better fit lies with Barnes.
