Jayron Hosley is a boss

At 8-9 I see us taking best guy on our board regardless... after that who knows... I could see us going all defense the whole draft, as well.. all I know is I am feeling really good about Rivera and his staff and their skills to communicate with Hurney and the scouts as to what they need to make their schemes successful.

Anyone else think we are taking Defense in the first two rounds? Then bpa in the other rounds?

We have too.

One of the biggest things this team lacks are players that can force turnovers. After watching this years playoffs with teams like the Giants and the Niners, I realized that we need guys that can get interceptions, pick 6's, forcing fumbles, fumble recoveries.

We need to find ourselves a quality defensive linemen that can disrupt, get to the QB, cause the other teams offense to make mistakes and give other guys on our team a chance to make plays. We don't need to draft qusetionable defensive linemen that need time to develop. I want an Aldon Smith, JPP, Suh.

Then we need to find a quality player for the secondary whether it be a CB that could contribute right away on special teams and even rotate or start at nickle. Either that or actually target a guy to push Martin for the starting spot and possibly be able to start right away.

the VT homer in me wants him on our team considering there's a realistic shot of us landing him. The only bad thing with him is his tackling is a little weak and his weight. However his finesse and ability to close in on the ball are phenomenal. He's a fundamental ball hawk who knows how to play the quarterback's ability to read a coverage and take advantage of it. His 2010 game in the come from behind win against NC State is probably the best game for this.

He had a lackluster year in 2011 due to Hamstring injuries and a Concussion or two. He can still ball though. With the ball in the air, you want him on your team.

He can return punts with no fear. Can make guys miss constantly. He has "it" as a returner. The mentality that they can score from anywhere on the field. Those are the most dangerous ones.

Starting CBs (assuming we do not draft one): Hogan, Gamble.

We do not HAVE to draft defense. If we do, Do not dismiss Coples. He is having a good week at the SR bowl and we are well represented there.

Imagine Reiff is there. Gross is getting old, maybe slipping a hair. Otah on the right side? Feel good about that? Really? Bell sucked at RT, but would be a good rg. If you want Cam on the field instead of on the IR, take the best OT.

If you did that, you have to move Schwartz to LG and cut Wharton and his huge salary. You then sign a free agent or 2--Defensive players.

You can use the draft to free up cap room. If I drafted DeCastro and cut Wharton, I could sign an OLB and a FS while upgrading G. I would do that, but our situation at OT is scary. You cannot have a franchise QB and ignore our T situation.

I think that we are okay for another year at OT, looking at what we have returning. After this year the situation becomes problematic. I assume that our staff will know what we need to address with the 8/9 pick and the rest of the pics for that matter. I would not be opposed to an OT with that selection, its not sexy, but keeps Cam sexy, and thus keeps US sexy. :)

I think Rhodes decided to stay in school. I liked Cliff Harris A LOT before the season, if he's there in the 4th I wouldn't be upset if we took him even if we do take a CB in the 2nd (or Morris if he falls or Jenkins if we trade back in the 1st). He's deadly as a returner, so he could contribute right away even if he doesn't get significant playing time as a CB (with Gamble, hopefully Hogan and whatever rookie we get in the 2nd (or 1st) as the top 3 CBs).

The depth at CB and lack of depth at DT is exactly why I'm a big fan of taking Brockers in the 1st and getting a CB in the 2nd. I think the fall off after Brockers and Still is bigger than the fall off after Morris and Jenkins. We can get a better CB in the 2nd than DT. With that said, if Morris is there when we pick I don't see how we don't take him. He's the BPA at a position of need for us, period (not counting OT as a need, more of a want or potential need but not a need just yet).

I see VERY real possibilites that OT, DT, DE, or CB could be our first round pick. Take the BPA from any of those positions and it is a smart move.

I agree the only other position I could see us taking is WR if Blackmon falls, but I doubt that happens

Just thought I'd bump this one after a very impressive combine for Jayron.

Anyone else wanna jump on the "Official take Jayron Hosely in the 2nd" bandwagon?

I would but I've found myself on the Harrison smith bandwagon and Ita hard for me to just leap off. Really like Jayron tho
