Newton, Dalton Meet Up In Pro Bowl

Neither should be there, but Dalton REALLY shouldn't.

It must really hurt you that the two QBs, one who was told he had to "prove himself" and the other always being mocked for having red hair and constantly told he was no better than second or third level, are in Hawaii hanging around and soaking up all that experience.:D

Cam's in the conversation for greatest rookie season of all time, haven't heard Dalton mentioned in that conversation.

Dalton played very well, but the season he had is not in the same class as the season Cam had.

Dalton had the best rookie year we've seen in a LONG time. It's not his fault he was overshadowed by Cam.

Overshadowed by who? He wasn't overshadowed by anyone outside this board. He got just the amount of credit he deserved. He was first alternate in the pro bowl just like that. (Keep in my peers & coaches are 2/3 of the vote)

Stafford had a GREAT year, but his season any other year he gets in. Newton put up these numbers as a ROOKIE. He earned it.

As for Dalton, have you seen the AFC QBs this year? Who's left, The Golden Calf of Bristol? Not to mention Dalton had a pretty damn good year himself.

The pro-bowl isn't for rookies. He's being compared to all of his NFL peers. Rookie of the year hands down because he's being relatively compared to rookies, but Stafford deserved it over newton.

The pro bowl is for the best players in the NFL. And you SHOULD consider that a player is doing in his first year. I'm not saying Stafford didn't deserve a bid, what I AM saying is he deserves it just as much for that reason.

They have already designated rookie awards. I think Pro-Bowl and any other awards should not have a players experience considered.

Newton didn't have stats that were quite as fancy as Stafford and Stafford went to the playoffs. I think it's pretty clear cut that Stafford was snubbed.

The pro-bowl is a popularity contest which helped Newton a lot. It's quite refreshing and the franchise deserves it with Gamble getting snubbed or the massive snub of D-will in 08.

The Lions threw the ball more than any other team this season. They literally had no run game for the second half of the season so passing was really the only way they could move the ball. Not saying Stafford didnt deserve the pro bowl because of this but just putting it in perspective that of course he was gonna rack up a lot of yards.

The same perspective applies to newton. He had huge games when we had no run game, Stafford had similar circumstances but won more games as well as better stats.

Stafford was snubbed, he deserved it over Newton. The pro-bowl isn't a legit award regardless so it doesn't really matter. The more panthers in the better as far as im concerned. But with the panthers glasses off it's no question.

What do you me "we" kemosabe?

I know Dalton played very well, but the season he had doesn't come close to the season Cam had.

The were fairly close if you look at the big picture--all time rookie QBs, statistically, with advantage going to Cam. But Dalton had a fantastic year, and is one of the few rookie Qbs to ever make the pro bowl. That is rather close.

They played Baltimore and Pittsburgh twice, San Francisco and Houston. THat is six pretty good defenses.

Are u for real??? What more do u want Cam to do to secure the Pro-Bowl?

Let's not forget u're comparing a three year Vet, who is finally playing a full season, to a rookie with no preseason training. U are comparing Matt's stats, which about five other Vet QBs have broken and passed, to a rookie who broke records that were standing for 13 years. U continue to try and make the argument that Matt's stats are better than Cam's but u refuse to look at the bigger picture. Cam has accomplished more than Matt as a rookie and did it while carrying a team with a defense that was clearly MIA.

If u want to make the argument that Matt should have been picked over Cam because he made it to the play-off. I'll take it one step further, The Golden Calf of Bristol went further in the play-offs than Dalton. Where's the bitching that Tim should have been in the pro-bowl over Dalton?

I seriously don't get why people are always trying to defend their personal baises by being so selective with their argument.

Some people just can't take off the homer glasses. No different than broncos fans and The Golden Calf of Bristol sheesh. There are quarterbacks who had better seasons than newton, why is that so controversial to point out?

It's not a travesty that newton is in the pro-bowl, he played well too. A lot of qbs played well so one would be left out. Newton's hype helped a bit.
