JRs video got me thinking:

DJs. Whats the deal with the headphones? They are always around their necks. Why do they have them? Do they ever use them or is it just hey look at me I'm a DJ?

They are mainly just used to preview the next song before it plays to make sure it blends right

Former club DJ here. The headphones are only used to match up the beats of the two songs that will be mixed and to make sure you have it cued up. When you start mixing the 2 songs, one earphone is typically used to hear the song you're mixing into while listening to the other song that is playing with your other ear. Beats matched and in the same 4/4 (typically) progression, then the headphones come down and you start doing the "DJ thang." "OMG, loooook at me!! I'm not making the music, but I'm sure acting like I am!!"
