instead iits speculated that the giants are going to try and trade osi umenyiora this offseason and role with tuck an pierre-paul. he only makes 3.25mil next year, why not go after him and take brockers or a DB in the 1st? Charles Johnson, Ron Edwards, Michael Brockers, Osi Umenyiora would be a great front 4

U really think the FO is gonna spend that kinda money..we're already on the cusp of blowing over our salary cap as is..then u wanna sign a guy who wants big time money and is getting up there in age..when u can get a young/raw J-Pep in the form of Quinton Coples..cmon son! Maybe if we were the eagles or the redskins and had money to throw at FAs then yeah but I highly doubt Marty and Mr. Richardson pursue this guy. I do agree that would be a nice front four but so would. CJ, coples, Neblett, and Edwards. Plus this draft is loaded with CBs and we can easily get an elite player in 8/9 picks removed from the first round.

Im starting to really warm up to this pick. He was a beast at times yesterday during the game and flashed big time ability. I know i was critical of him because it feels like he should be making big plays on every down. But he does have big time potential, he is versatile (could use him in the Justin Tuck mold) and I think his best football is a head of him.

why isn't he a beast more often? if anything, what he did at the senior bowl only made me more frustrated about the possibility of this pick.

it's obvious the talent that he has, but you just can't bank on seeing it all the time. his motor was high for that game, but why isn't it high every game.

some people will give the excuse that it was because the team had given up or it was a crappy situation as if that makes it alright, but all it says to me is that you can expect this guy to show up when things are good and easy, but when things get tough (like it did in '09 and '10) then he'll be sitting on his well paid buttocks.

i just don't trust the guy to show up all the time.

That's quite an indictment if his coaches are saying it.

UNC's coaches are just trying to cover their own asses. They have greatly under performed despite having immense talent for several years now. With a new head coach a lot of these guys are going to be jobless soon and have to justify their performance to potential employers. Throw the fact that many of them have already been shown to be cheaters and liars I'm not sure why anyone would believe anything that they say.

This is where you went wrong.

Nobody even the biggest Coples Fan will say he is anything close to Peppers.

Only thing he has with Pep is they went to the same school that is it.

I dunno. If you stood Peppers and Coples side by side in pads (especially coming out of college) they'd look similar.

Of course once you got them to run/turn/jump etc you'd notice a big difference.

I don't think Coples is good enough - or Hardy bad enough - to take a DE this high. Would rather have Brockers/Still/Kuechly or even Courtney Upshaw or one of the OT's than Coples.

Kuechly is a MLB....does not have the speed to play OLB. Do NOT need a MLB at #8 or #9 overall pick.

Upshaw is a 3-4 LB....not built to be a everydown 4-3 DE. I love his play, but just don't see that he fits here with a pick that high. He would definitely be a tweener and a situational player.
