Cam Newton Wins Sporting News 2011 Rookie of the Year

Except they do nothing but watch film all week of all of their opponents (and the teams their opponents play) so they probably see more of them than we do.

I'm pretty sure Eli Manning hasn't seen Cam play this year. Nor half of the league (offensive players). People assume NFL players keep up with the rest of the league. They only study film on their direct opponents.

Yes he has, because 1.) we played the Giants in preseason, and 2.) we played the Redskins, whom the Giants played, and therefore he watched film of their defense getting destroyed by Cam.

There's more than one team on game films, you know. When you combine common opponents and scheduled opponents films you have a chance to see almost everyone through the year.

Alabama and Auburn fans truly despise each other, and not in a "we're constant rivals who ultimately respect our shared history" kind of way, but a "our state sucks balls and the closest thing we have to functioning institutions are our football teams, so we cling to their exploits as they provide the only sense of identity in this god-forsaken hellhole" kind of way.

What you just wrote?

For Auburn? x1 (true).

For Bama? x1000.

There has yet to be any video or media reported proof of Auburn fans destroying Bama landmarks, Auburn fans teabagging opposing fans, Auburn fans shooting their wives, sons, or daughters because Auburn lost a game, an Auburn fan paying a mentally-retarded person to take the fall for a stabbing he was guilty of, Auburn fans shooting opposing fans because of a football game, etc. etc. etc. Google that poo for Bama and it'll pop right up.

And now you know why otherwise normal, rational Auburn fans despise Alabama fans with a white-hot hatred typically reserved for serial killers, and why Alabama fans would scare most serial killers.

But seriously, the state of Alabama sucks. I live a rural part of eastern North Carolina, and even I felt like I had gotten stuck in some horrific remake of "Deliverance" everytime I was in Alabama.

lol holy crap the argument we're really gonna go with is that NFL players and coaches are ignorant in their vote?

As an Auburn alum, sometimes I get comments from people unfamiliar with Auburn and the SEC like "Auburn? That's in Georgia right?"

And I'm like "YEP!!!"

:D

LOL @ the Deliverance part....And to think that State is where my mother decided she wanted to go and live. No wonder when I speak to her she sounds so darn depress.

it's far more respectable than the pepsi roty and even pro-bowl, though, because of who is voting...rather who isn't voting. no fans involved.

Yeah, it's a bit hard to take an award given by folks who decided to pull one player for another but forgot to remove his picture from the Pespi list. Just imagine Falcon fans looking at the list of ROTY on the Pepsi poster and seeing Julio's picture only to go on the site and not see him there. NFLN remove him and replaced him with Peterson but never removed his picture from the Pepsi list. DUH

I don't think ignorant is the right word. But most NFL players have seen very little of any one player (very few offensive players would have seen Cam play). I think their decision was correct. But if you think the players are basing their decision of actually watching Panthers games, you would be mistaken.

players are like us......they watch sportcenter and MNF. The defensive players that faced Carolina are the only ones who legitimately watched Cam Newton this year.

Ahem, I am living in this "God-forsaken hellhole" and I am more of an Alabama fan than I am an Auburn Fan.
