CG's Official Senior Bowl Daily Report Thread.

Basically, he's the shiz and David Decastro didn't totally ruin his draft stock after all

Did he go against Decastro too? I read earlier in the thread that he beat Brewster who is no slouch. I don't get it. I know I am no scout but for two years I have seen him do what Cat's Growl described him as doing at the senior bowl today. There must be some knocks against him or he would be rated much higher. Maybe he is at his ceiling. Does anyone know why he doesn't get a higher grade from the scouts?

I recall his draft stock dipping pretty hard after the Stanford game when he went up against Decastro and the Cardinal rushed for 300 yds or something absurd like that.

I went back and checked and he lined up against the left guard and center not directly against Decastro. He still received a bad grade and was part of the line that gave up all those yards so he is guilty by association. He also graded badly against Baylor which I just do not understand. They ran away from him and rolled out away from him on passing downs. I am just a fan not a scout. I like the big old dude.

Speaking of small QB's. Russell Wilson, is the shortest QB I have ever seen. Now listed at 5'10" I truly can't get you to understand how small he looked out there. He's dwarfed by little almost everyone on the field.

He is small, no doubt, but if we are looking for a backup for Cam, one with a similar skillset to run the offense if something should happen, he is our guy.

I hope we do not get him, though. I know , fully, that, given the chance, he could be a starter in this league. And, hopefully, he would never get that chance here.

T J Graham returned punts ( i had hoped NC St guys might be able to give some insight)

Elite speed, good size, decent -> good hands, completely raw.

This year was his first year as a fulltime receiver and he showed flashes. He is the all-time ACC leading punt and kickoff return man. But, his lack of production at receiver will push him into a 3rd day pick.

That said, as a return specialist/PROJECT WR, he is a great prospect. If he can take a big step at WR, he has Torrey Smith/Mike Wallace speed.

Maybe a stupid question, but how are we meeting with Brockers at the Senior Bowl when he obviously isn't participating? Is he from the area? Do agents fly underclassmen in to meet with scouts/coaches just because they are all there in one place?

Just curious in case anyone knows.

I have been so waiting for someone on here to mention Alameda Ta'amu. I watched lots of his games and he is an absolute stud. He demands a double team and when singled he pushes his opponent straight into the backfield. He does not give up gaps but pushes his man straight back into the QB. There is some video of him on youtube. There is one game against Washington State where he dominates. The other game against Baylor which is hard to evaluate due to being a complete shoot out. In the Baylor game I noticed that they ran away from him and rolled away from him on passing downs.

He was bothered by nagging injury this year so his stats are down and he has gone under the radar somewhat. The only knock I can find on him is awareness to track down the ball carrier. He did play in the 4-3 and is not strictly a NT.

While I would really rather have a veteran come in on the line next year, I would be delighted if the Panthers drafted this guy. THANKS Catsgrowl!

I watched the entire Baylor vs Washington game. This was the only time that I had seen Ta'amu play, and I can honestly say, he looked like pure sh!t. He was being double teams the whole 1st quarter, the rest of the game they were able to single block him with not a lot of problem. They were gashing him up the gut on his side several times too. I wouldn't draft him in the 4th round based on that game alone. The knock he has is that his lower 'base' is not well proportioned to his upper half.. which is what Cats growl is basically saying.. his rump and legs are thin and will not be able to hold the point of attack at the NFL level with just upper body strength, which is what he has.
