Red Tails

The 1995 HBO movie "Tuskegee Airman" is recognized as a better movie.

Even though the people portayed in the movie, the were ficticious, it did portray the racism that were present during the time. The biggest error in the 1995 fim came at the end where it claimed that no bomber were lost while they flew fighter cover. (In fact, at least 25 bombers were lost, but fewer than many of the previous missions. (This could be attributed to 2 things. The "Red Tails" came on later in the war when the allies had gained air superiority and they were good pilots.)) Bomb groups actually started to ask that the "Red Tails" fly fighter cover for their mission, even though the bomber knew were African Americans.

With Laurence Fishburne, yeah that was a pretty good TV movie.

I think the last 2 Star Wars movies were made for 100 million - Lucas has made economy in filmmaking a priority, as he feels that the current system lends itself to studios only making cookie cutter formula movies that have a chance at making back their investments by appealing to the lowest common denominator.

Was intrigued when learning about the subject matter, but wouldn't give it a chance after the trailers. I definitely got the vibe in those 30 seconds that Philly is describing here--pass. Also disappointed that Loud/Close got mediocre to bad reviews as well.

This. Not surprised at all that it sucks.

Are you kidding? It should have been awesome. Combine the geek factor of seeing all those WWII aircraft with a halfway serviceable plot and the visuals/subject matter makes it an instant classic.

My Grandad was in the 332nd so this is a dear subject to me. I don't mind not being 100% historically accurate, but fug man... If grandad was still alive I could've given him a bottle of bourbon, a cigar & filmed him rambling about his adventures & it would've been far better than that.

Also, I'm an actor. My grad thesis was a one man show based on his days as a Tuskegee Airman & it was better than that poo too.
