Pros and cons Still vs Brockers?

Brockers is just as good as Still is and one is a RS soph, while the other is a senior. the numbers are not the same but the disruption is.

Still looked slow during the Houston(had turf toe) game and was beasted vs the Badgers. he flashed some vs Bama but based off everything Brockers is the top DT in my book.

I'm sure it's been said but on the surface to me it breaks down like this.

Still is the safe pick. Will be a good, never great DT in the league.

Brockers is a slight risk, but has the chance to be dominant one day.

At the end of the day, do we want a guy who will solidify the line now, or one who will potentially make it great?

Cam vs Gabbert of DTs. One is boom or bust, the other is the "safe" and "solid" pick. Haha. I'll take the potential dominance of Brockers.

LOL!! I said the same thing, situations are so similiar its crazy. We get are franchise impact players on offense and defense back to back years. I take Brockers all day.

I never thought of Cam or Gabbert that way. I am sure most did but Gabbert had more question marks to me. It was strange that some of the criticism that was put on Cam was never applied to Gabbert, like playing in offenses that weren't similar to the pros.

I'd take either one of them. The clips I've seen of Brockers isn't nearly as impressive as what I've seen of Still, but that's largely because there isn't as much out there. If one thing worries me about Still it's his injury issues in the past.

Same. The injuries are concerning.

Brockers/Still is not Newton/Gabbert.

Newton blew away Gabbert in stats, his performance on the field, etc. No one was more productive than Newton and he won the Heisman as a result.

The situation with the DT's is different. I don't know yet which I prefer, but Brockers did not "out produce" Still on the field the way Cam did vs. Gabbert.

Bad, bad comparison.

I feel the same as most....Brockers looks like the risky pick because he is younger and hasn't played a lot but man this guy looks like he can dominate the NFl in the near future. Still looks like a safe pick but I don't like him as our first pick, too many big injuries.

The comparison had nothing to do with "production." (especially since DT is an entirely different animal than QB) I don't know why you are sticking that in there.

Cam was called "high potential, high risk" predominantly because of the off field stuff, along with a certain bias that is best left alone in this discussion. The fact remains that he was very, very productive in college and should not have been sold as a guy being drafted primarily off his potential.

Brockers, on the other hand, is a guy that didn't have a lot of eye popping plays on the field. He was probably held back in this regard by LSU taking him out of the game in passing situations. I expect his sack/TFL/hurries would be much better had he played when you pretty much know what the opposing offense is going to do. Whatever the case, going just by what we saw on the field, he was not far better than Still in the way that Cam was far better than Gabbert. That is why I think it is a bad comparison. After all, every "high potential guy" is not the Cam Newton of their respective position.
