RadioKiller's 3rd Mock Draft

No we wouldn't trade another first. That trade wouldn't be worth it and we'd be giving up too much. I said mid rounder.

And CatsGrowl, you have probably seen Ingram the most, what do you think about him? I watch SEC but can't catch all of SCAR's games.

Ah, you're right.

As for Ingram, he's a tremendous athlete, as you stated.

He has more versatility than any player on the defensive side of the ball in this draft. He had great success as a DE, but would also find success when he was moved inside on 3rd down when Clowney came into the game. He had an INT from the safety position this year. He's reminds me of Adalius Thomas in so many ways in Thomas' good years. Rivera could use Ingram in so many ways to baffle opposing offenses, and would be a great option in 3-4 alignments as you stated.

I'll be watching him closely when I'm at Senior Bowl practices this week.

Frankly the biggest problem I could see with this is Ingram continuing to climb up draft boards. His athleticism would lead one to assume he will have a good combine, so with a good week of practice this week he could conceivably climb into the top 10.

And if don't get that extra first getting him, we leave other positions of need possibly wide open.

I agree. Usually the better athletes raise their stock at the combine, because it seems like thats about what is measured at that thing. Remember how awesome Aaron Curry was at the combine? And how NOT awesome he is in the NFL? I do. Of course, that is definetely not saying Melvin Ingram is gonna be a bust, because I, too, am intrigued with his play.

Thanks, who would you target at 17 if we traded down? Perry? Merciless? Or go a different direction.

Not tweeners like Perry or Mercilus...at 17 we could possibly get Decastro, Brockers, Still, maybe look at Zach Brown or Coples.

No more tweeners on this team, please. We're at our cap with Applewhite, Keiser and Norwood.

Yeah but those tweeners aren't that good. Ingram is a better prospect than what we currently have. It's not that they we have too many tweeners that is the problem, it's the fact that that they aren't good.

And if Brockers or Still falls to 17, I'd take them. But I just didn't see them falling. Still a long long time and things could change.

I wasn't saying anything against Ingram. But some people choose to look at tweeners as "versatile". I see it more as "limited". The team is limited in what situations we could use guys like Perry, Mercilus, E. Brown, or any of our current tweeners. Can't use them on expected run plays, can't use them in any situation other than DEFINITE pass plays. And even then, they could still turn out like Brown and not even be that good in passing situations. More often than not tweeners turn out to be disappointments. I bet if you look back, the bust rate for DE/OLBs labelled as "tweeners" is much higher than non-tweener DEs or even most any other position for that matter.

Lol at saying every versatile player is the same talent wise.

Who said that? And Everette Brown had about as much potential and talent as any tweener coming out. Sometimes physical limitations are too much to overcome. At DE is usually one of those places.
