My penultimate mock as I will likely do one after the combine and closer to draft time. This is my first mock that involves a trade. My ideal situation would be to trade down.

Trade

Carolina receives both of Bengals 1st round picks (#17 & #21)

Cincinnati receives 2012 Panthers first round pick (#8) and 2013 mid round pick.

1st Round (#17)

Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, S.Carolina

One of the most versatile defensive linemen in this draft. He can lineup basically anywhere on the line and you will see him stand up as well. That will come in handy when we show 3-4. Also good at shedding blocks whether in the run or pass game. Love his motor as well.

1st Round (#21)

Janoris Jenkins, CB, N.Alabama

Arguably the best cover corner in this draft class. He has a track record for doing a great job against opposing team's top WR. He may be small but he makes up for that in his aggressive play in coverage and the run game. He isn't afraid to attack the ball carrier and his instincts are a plus.

2nd Round

Markelle Martin, FS, Oklahoma State

Need a FS that can compete with Martin and possibly take over. This other Martin has all the skills to do so. He is a FS but he isn't afraid to creep towards the line where he is known to be a hard hitter. Also very solid in coverage.

4th round

Matt McCants, OT, UAB

McCants is an athletic OT who is fits the LT mold. I have always thought that Gross should be moved to RT and allow someone else to protect Cam's blind side. Matt McCants has all the tools to play LT, just needs to get a little more built for the overpowering defenders. But when it comes to quicker opponents, McCants athleticism allows him for great range.

5th Round

Marcus Forston, DT, Miami

Talent wise he is much better than a 5th rounder but injuries have plagued him and I can see him slide. He lost some weight before the season in order to become more agile. He has always been an athlete and his ability to get pressure on the QB is his forte.

6th Round

Gerell Robinson, WR, Arizona St.

Don't think WR is the biggest of needs but if Robinson is still sitting here in the 6th, he'd be a great value pick. He is big receiver at 6'3" and 220 pounds. So it stands to reason he is a physical, possession-type receiver.

7th Round

Drew Butler, P, UGA

Normally don't advocate drafting Ks or Ps but Baker is slowly wearing down and isn't getting any younger. Butler probably won't be an UDFA so we need to nab him in the 7th.

I don't know much about him, but I'm not real big on Ingram. From what very little I do know he looks like an Everette Brown tweener type that will struggle to find a true role in the NFL.

Yeah he is a bit small and might be a better fit for the 3-4. But he has a good motor and for his size sheds block pretty well.
