DRT: Ron Edwards - (FA/DP) - Sione Fua

Some of you are missing something. I know what Marty will do but if you had the choice who would YOU keep.

They have to be on the roster now.

1) i wouldn't settle for who we have on the roster just because they are there.

2) i wouldn't cut any of them prior to training camp i'd make sure they were all there

3) i would trust my head coach to make the decision to keep the best 5 and then i would deal with cutting who wasn't kept.

it's not marty's call or at least it shouldn't be. in the best interest of the team you keep the guys that rivera wants you to keep after you've given him solid choices to choose from.

you want to know what i would do? that's it.

Fua showed me nothing, I didn't really see the flashes Rivera spoke about ( though I am no expert ) and I think McClain may have suffered a bit from that.

Well well have at least 6 coming to training camp with demarrio pressley being another option in camp, we could have 7 DTs in camp next year which will make for a pretty interesting competition

Forget Ron Edwards. I would keep Armanti Edwards. He obviously has some hidden talent we have yet to see so a he has got to be a 180lb hole plugger on the D Line . . .

I wouldn't keep keep Edwards over Shirley or Kearse due to his age and injury. Run defense obviously improved with Fua on the bench. Shirley actually was a pretty good pass rusher from the DT position.

McCain and Fua both go into camp......

but 3 and later round draft picks get the boot after a year all the time in the NFL. Carolina is no different. Neither showed enough to of earned spots for another year simply b/c they were draft picks. The difference in there performance and who replaced them late in the year was TOO noticable.

I dont mind Fua as a back up next year but def not a starter. The kid had no tec what so ever.

All you can really do at this point is talk about who is going to be at camp. How they shake out from there depends on who impresses and who doesn't. So I am sure that Fua, McClain, Edwards will be there as they are under contract. I figure that of the remainder- Shirley, Kearse, Neblett, Nwagbua, Pressley perhaps 3 go to camp. We might upgrade by bringing in a few additional guys to camp.

I don't remember if it was Smitty or someone else who said in a recent interview that we had guys on the roster who really weren't good enough to play in the NFL. They were only there because we had so many guys on IR. I wonder how many DTs we used this year would fit in that category.
