Thought of a draft day trade

After the Combine and position specific drills, Jenkins will be the second rated CB in this draft or in the very least a 2a / 2b guy.

As for the Brockers scouting report, ESPN is telling you the same thing that I've been telling you guys for the last few days. He doesn't effectively rush the passer and isn't very good at getting penetration on passing downs.

Looks familiar doesn't it....

you're still selling him short and the thing is representing as much as what i and others have been saying about him as it has yours, in fact i would say it supports pretty much everything that has been said about him. he's an unpolished but disruptive pass rusher who finds a way to get through and gets his hands up.

he's a great run stuffer (and i can't for the life of me understand why this wouldn't be paramount as we were more pathetic against the run than against the pass) and he's got room to grow not just in mass but in all areas, esp. as a pass rusher.

he's also considered the best DT of the class.

you are seeing what you want to see which is an underwhelming prospect who is sure to disappoint. but what i'm seeing and have been seeing is what most people have been seeing who are able to look at him with more of an open mind. he is someone that can come in and do as well or better than who we have playing DT right away and who has the motor, base of talent, natural ability, coachability, and work ethic needed to be elite or at least dominant against the run and the pass.

his talent is obvious as is his potential.

Not sure we were all that much better against the pass, we were bad against both. Teams really just dictated the play and played to their respective strengths. We started to get better agains the run at the end of the year though. I think it's really a toss up.

As far as Brockers, he could develop against the pass rush, but so could other prospects. As of now, that is something he will have to get better at.

saying that he needs to and can get better at pass rushing doesn't mean that he can't come right in and play at a higher level than what we have.

i think that's the case.

he's got a ton of room for needed growth but he's coming with a solid floor from which to work. he's got natural talent that has only barely been taken advantage of. he's only scraped the surface of what he's capable of and as is he'd be an upgrade from what we have. that is what has me excited about him.

All of these players will change positions after the all star games and combine but I also think multiple trading is possible given the players available and needs of teams behind us. OT's are getting mixed reviews, but someone usually will panic and reach for one, which could get someone to move up to #9. The other wild card is someone falling in love with Richardson- I've heard some scouts have him rated highest since AP.

Long shot but Arizona could move up for OT from 13, then Jets/Patriots/Bengals/Browns/Broncos could want Richardson and trade up. That could give us 4 aditional picks in the top#100 and we could get several contributors/starters (some combination of):

G- Decastro or Cordy Glenn

DT- Brockers, Poe, Still, Coples if he continues to drop

CB-Hosley, Jenkins, Boykin (KR too), Gilmore

OLB- Z. Brown

S- Markelle Martin

WR/scatback-Jarius Wright(KR too), Demps,

COuld be a good haul

I'm not selling him short, he has a bunch of talent. I've said that already. It's known that he's really good at playing the run. It's also known that his first step and bull rush aren't elite enough for him to ever be a elite pass rusher. He's not fast or quick enough to ever be consistent on getting pressure on passing downs. He has the skills to become a good one in 2-3 years, but that's not a given. No where in that did it say he was a disruptive pass rusher, actually quite the opposite.

but not elite first step to consistently penetrate
That means he doesn't have the speed or quickness to be a constant threat rushing the passer from the DT spot.

Your talking about drafting a guy who doesn't have elite quickness or speed, elite pass rushing ability or moves, who also needs pass rush technique refinement. Who posses above average upper body strength, below average lower body strength, decent to good hands. Plays the run well with that being his biggest strength, needs some technique refinement on run downs in the top 10.

In other news, Carolina has traded its 14th overall pick and a sixth-round pick to the Jets for the 25th overall pick, the 59th and a pick in the fifth round. I think Carolina might come out pretty well in this thing. The fans here love what the Jets are doing, though.
