yeah that's why when kenobi met luke he told him he met his father when he was a great fighter pilot and not some little poo kid

that's why luke and leia ended up being brother and sister after their pseudo-romance

vader tortures leia, spends extended time with her in a new hope, yet can't sense that she's his daughter, or that she has a talent for the force?

only two sith are allowed at a time, but vader wants to rule the galaxy as father and son with luke in empire. does vader plan to kill the emperor?

the entire process for becoming a jedi is so detached between the trilogies. anakin has to submit to a very regimented training process, whereas luke just chills with obi wan, hangs out on dagobah, leaves before his training, comes back and requires no training, but oh wait, yoda forgot, he has to kill darth vader before he can become a jedi. seriously. wtf.

obi wan asked yoda in empire "was i any different when you trained me?" yet obi wan was not trained by yoda.

either he's the worst writer in history, or a fat neck liar. maybe both.

The original Star Wars came out when many of us were teenagers. It had cheesy acting (Hamill was terrible), cheesy lines, a so so plot, and state of the art special effects (for that time). The Phantom menace came out and it had better actors, cheesy lines, a so so plot, and state of the art special effects. But we weren't teenagers anymore and we had all seen movies that were as good as star wars in the special effects department. So we didn't like it. But a lot of younger people did. Well somebody like it because it made a lot of money.

The prequels came out when I was a teenager, I still didn't like them.

I agree with PSC, I've never thought Hamill was as bad as people like to say. He's not going to win an Oscar or anything, but I've never understood what, exactly, people see "wrong" with his acting.

Cheesy lines? Meh...idk, though I will agree the worst line in the movie is Han Solo's non-subtle declaration: "It is for me sister. Look, I'm not in this for your revolution, and I'm not in it for you, princess. I expect to be well paid, I'm in it for the money." Yeah, that is a pretty terrible line.

A so-so plot? Again, I really can't argue with an opinion but I don't think ANH's plot is so-so in the slightest. Basic, perhaps, but it's meant to be. It's meant to be a good/evil morality tale of the type humanity has been telling since storytelling was created. It's not The Usual Suspects as far as plot goes, but it's not supposed to be. That's not its purpose.

In fact, Lucas tried the complex, convoluted plot in TPM, and it was absolutely terrible.

its easy to forget that ANH has its own twists and turns with the destruction of alderaan, obi wan's death mid-film, and a small part of mystery at the beginning because not only has everyone seen it a million bajillion times, but because it pulls it off so effortlessly, and it is considered to be the most base film in the original trilogy

you can't say that about any of the films in the prequel trilogy. everything is wooden, clunky, and painful.

I haven't read any of the books or followed the highly touted expanded universe besides a few video games but started reading some interesting discussions about the concepts of a light side sith or a dark side jedi in swtor(which is considered canon, just like everything else approved by lucas arts). When you get down to it the whole fantasy universe is a bunch of bullpoo. The Jedi are nothing but a bunch of elitist pricks that go around snatching up genetically superior children from their families and loved ones in order to indoctrinate them with some bullpoo moral code with the sole purpose of maintaining their power and influence over galactic politics. The Sith, while not really the 'good guys', at least are honest with themselves and those around them about what their goals and intentions are. The Jedi are the keepers of the peace, as long as they're in control.

    • It is.  Even the mid to late round guys are super appealing and would have been ahead of Trevin in his drafft.  Deontae Lawson - just look his stuff up, lot's to like Jimmy Rolder - absolute force.  Limited sample size but the sample is pretty dope.  (one of my favorite sleepers) Keyshaun Elliott - stud run defender, great size/length, is always wrapping plays up, high IQ.  Even this dude Owen Heinecke is an interesting guy.  Not some dog in the middle but will absolutely be an asset for particular teams (I.E. Minny would be an awesome fit)
    • It's not explicitly saying it, it's suggesting that we draft a certain position, regardless if the receiver has the higher grade.  We would never had made the playoffs without T-mac. Morgan did the absolutely right thing, and that's what I hope he continues to do in the draft, which is follow the board and draft impact players. He used free agency to set up the draft for just that purpose. For anyone that thinks last season was anything but an improvement, I don't know what to tell 'em.  The goal is to keep the momentum going, and I'd say that addressing our three biggest needs with arguably the best players at their respective positions this free agency, and legit quality players to boot, goes along way toward building the foundation of long term success. Before free agency, no one was picking us to win the division, now more than a few analysts are, and that's before the draft. Pull your bootstraps up where you are and get to work. We aren't as good as we need to be, but the needle is moving in the right direction.
    • The Bengals absolutely fuged up paying Higgins elite WR money. You can't have your QB and two WRs eating up your whole cap or you end up with... well, the Bengals. Your QB is getting killed because your OL is trash and you can't stop anybody because your D is trash because you can't afford a balanced roster. Unless you're smacking it out of the park in the draft you're gonna be hard pressed to put a good team on the field despite an elite QB and WRs.
