Car Insurance Question

Niner National

Recommended Posts

I rear ended a lady a couple weeks ago, but no police came, so it is not on my driving record.

I'm getting a quote from a new insurance company and they pulled my driving record and all they found was an illegal uturn violation from almost 4 years ago.

They asked if I have any accidents or claims paid out that are not appearing on my driving record....

Do insurance companies share this information with one another?

I want to say no, but I don't know if this can be found out.

Yes. She filed a medical claim against them too, which as far as I know is still pending.

Damage to my car was 3300. Her's couldn't have been more than 1,000. There was no damage to her car except to the bumper. My girlfriend got the same level of damage to her car a couple months ago when she was rearended and it was like $800 to be repaired.

If a claim was filed...they are going to find out.

Yep! The only time you MAY get away with something NOT going on your record if you get caught speeding in another state. SOMETIMES, states don't share that information, or it may take years to catch up with you.

Otherwise, it will go on your record.

I was going to say...if there was no police report, your insurance company could have fought it, but once your insurance company (must have had a recorded affidavit from you concerning the accident) had the claim processed, it's done and no police report was required.

Yes, in many cases they do share information. You could buy the new insurance and hope they don't catch wind of if, but if they do they'll obviously adjust your rate.

yes, if she filed a claim.....that information will eventually be avaliable for any insurer. Claims info is avaliable to all insurance carriers.

If you bumped someone and no claim was filed.....then you could ignore it.
