ESPN Insider Kiper Mock Draft 1.0

There is a good chance that Morris Claiborne will drop to us as well. I really doubt Washington is going to draft a CB when they have more glaring holes.

Have you seen the Bucs defense?

....though they need a WR more, but Blackmon will probably be gone by #5.

Brandon Hogan had issues too, including not even being able to play. Weed bust don't matter.

Hogan was a 4th round pick. Big difference between spending a 4th rounder on someone with a recent arrest and using a top-10 pick.

Honestly, I've never been a fan of Kirkpatrick anyway. He seems slow and stiff, too much so to be an effective cover corner in the NFL. Maybe he'd be a good FS, which is also a need, but I'd rather take a Kulechy, Burfict, Martin, Reiff, Floyd, Still, or even Courney Upshaw (dark horse anyone?) than Kirkpatrick, and that was before this incident.

I recently gave us him in a mock of mine, but it was more out of the feeling that he was almost inevitably going to be our pick. I'm not so sure that's true now. In fact, I seriously doubt it after this.

Issues are issues man. No matter when they happen, or when the person is taken. Maybe there is a difference in your eyes, but to most employers there isn't. Background checks go back anywhere from seven years up to all the way. Which gets us into using Cam as an example since he was our first rounder, and had the laptop incident.

But if you want to say which one is worse it is Hogan's DUI by far. Its worse than both minor possession and petty theft. I won't be surprised if they take DreK in the first after a little weed bust. I also won't be surprised if we take the best DT.

Some of you are crazy though. No way we get Claiborne or Blackmon.

That isn't always true. It does depend on the athlete and how much of a media fuss is being made around him. Erik Aignes was a QB and taken by the Jets back in the mid 2000's. He came into the NFL with a really bad drug problem and it was all but ignored. He himself said he was doing drugs all the way back in the early years of high school.

Not only that, but I like how some folks can do things, and it's no big deal. Yet when someone else does something and the media makes a big deal over it, we all of a sudden find our moral compass.

Hes going to be a high pick.

You could say that again:D

He won't be here. Cam would not be here if he had a tat or acted gangsta in his Jerry meetings. Don't be naive.

ETA

Please do not read the above as "weed is bad", "gateway drug", "smoking pot is breaking the law just like burning babies alive is".

I don't care how people spend their time as long as they buy insurance and stay off my lawn. This is about us though and in Jerry's world, wrong or right, the team that drafts Dre in the first round is a team that says "we don't mind that you obviously don't care about your PR jacket leading up to the draft or who you associate with". And it is Jerry's world people. He has proven it to a fault in the eyes of many more than once. Jerry is not having that.

Behind closed doors Jerry may light up a blunt and call up a couple of hookers to come over and do blow off each others bare asses while he ponders it for a second, but he still ain't havin' that in his org.

I was speaking in general. Not just about teams.
