Romney only pays at a 15% tax rate...wtf

If people are expected to survive on a $30,000 a year salary, then people that make $300,000 a year should be expected to humble themselves a little more towards society's ills...

This whole conversation boils down to simple selfishness/elitist entitlement...

I'm talking about people who live off of other tax payers. You don't have to be rich to have a job. I guess you are the 8%??

You can also hold a job and struggle financially... which Mitt Romney, nor any other politician, would ever know about...

And they do. The question is to what degree. The top 2% pay over half of all FED tax.. am i missing something? I guarantee you that someone making $300,000 is in a different tax bracket as you. You think they should be taxed more then?

And despite how 'overtaxed' they are, they're in the elite group that continues to INCREASE their wealth. Good for them, people should be able to increase their wealth, but lets not pretend like them being in a higher tax bracket is hurting them. If it were, their wealth would be decreasing.

That's true. And I feel no pain for anyone with over $10 million. I'm not rich and I'm against the wealthy getting tax breaks the way they do. If you have enough money to buy it, you should be taxed 100% whether it's your 2nd or 8th house. I really don't think the elite and super rich not paying enough taxes is anywhere near the source of this countries problems. This is just a liberal bs argument the libs are producing to cause class warfare. Basically the only way Obama will get re-elected. They aren't going to change tax codes for the super rich nor does anyone in Washington want to, they're all one big family.

can we all stop using stupid hyperbolic buzz words like "class warfare?"

Sure, would you prefer hate, or envy?

Panthro, how much do you propose we cut the federal budget?

IMO I shouldn't be taxed any differently than anyone else, but to ech their own.

Too many people are making their living at the ballot box for my liking.

Nobody is making a living at the ballot box. The working poor and welfare recipients aren't living, they're simply existing. What they have, I would hardly call a life.

Spoke with a girl the other day who has 4 kids, and between the welfare, food stamps, and housing, she was bringing in almost 5 k per month.

Also teachers in the union states.

Lifetime politicians.

Lobbyists.

I hate all big government, not just the poor and lazy.

You think their wealth should decrease? They got that rich by being smarter than the average American. They know how to budget money and how to invest. Under no circumstance or tax structure would their wealth ever decline solely because of taxes and if it did, it would be the end of the world. Literally.

So Romney got rich by being smarter than the average american? I'd love to go brain to brain with "the rich" to see whose smarter...LOVE it.

We are still arguing Capital Gains when that point is moot. I do not think they should be penalized or taxed heavily on investments. I'm fine with the 15%...and would be fine with a lower % as well.

I'd say generally yes. You don't build that career without being smart. Graduated from Stanford, successful business man, etc. I'd like to know what qualifies you as smarter than him. Degree, business record, professional references, etc.

I'd say some people become rich by not being smart, like athletes, but keeping that wealth over time is very hard to do and I think you have to be smart to obtain wealth and keep it sustained.

I'm not arguing that 15% is good or bad, I'm now laughing at the dude that said taxes should decrease your wealth, I'm assuming year over year.

Wanna bet you or I could have got into Stanford if our old man was the Governor of a state and CEO of a car company? Hell maybe even Harvard or Yale....

Some people are smart and have the work ethic...like Andrew Carnegie. Came in from the bottom learned business and went from rags to riches. Some people had success gift wrapped for them and had the intelligence to not fug it up...hi Romney. I'm not calling him an idiot either but his intelligence did not accumulate his wealth.

He could have been a millionaire and been working a tiki bar in fiji since college.
