Interest in a Superbowl

lol Charlotte is way too small to handle something like the super bowl. Is there a city with a smaller population (not market) with a NFL team? I think the we are surely one of the smallest if not the smallest. The weather shouldn't matter.

Um Green Bay is pretty small.

Spoon somehow got a contract one year at Holy Trinity to do the lunches on Wednesday.

it was the most hideous food I'd ever eaten every single time.

Holy sh*t...

Lemme get this straight, you're also an actor...went to Holy Trinity that year...

dammit I probably know you haha

Most of the people that go to a race drive home after the race.

or camp across the street from the track

I once heard this point addressed, and I cant remember the source or details, but basically that the number of people drawn to a city for the Super Bowl dwarfs that of a race and it's not even comparable.

When celebs start customizing Winnebagos, pitching horseshoes to pass the time, and driving their Gators to the night life "spot" (double lot with outdoor karaoke setup) there will be enough accommodations for a Super Bowl.

Everything you can say about Charlotte can be said about Indianapolis as well, and they are hosting the superbowl this year. It's all about the stadium.

Gimme a break the Nascar HOF is a joke and hardly anyone goes to it. The speedway is fine but over glorifying a boring sport and making it a center piece of Charlotte is embarrassing.

Hate to break it to you, but NASCAR has played a huge role in the growth of the Charlotte area. NASCAR helped do for Charlotte what country music did for Nashville, TN.

I know the HoF there sucks! But also keep in mind that NASCAR's popularity is fading and whether you want to admit it or not, it's hurting Charlotte. In the mid to late 90's, Charlotte got soooooooooooooooo much free press due to being the center hub of racing! And just so happens that during the height of NASCAR's popularity that Charlotte starting getting overwhelming business and recognized as the fastest growing city in America! And yes, the Panthers played a huge part in it also.

On topic, if Indy can host then I see no reason why Charlotte can't, with the exception of outdoor stadium!

Nascar's popularity is fading from it's FOX inflated status of early 2000's. They tried everything they could to pump it up to be one of the bigtime sports nationwide. I think people gave it a try, like me, and realized it really is just a shameless marketing and advertising ploy and there isn't any substance left of it's original appeal.

That's a fancy way of saying that Fox forgot what racing is really about.

Follow the dollars, from the TV deals to chitty racetracks, Brian France is single handedly killing the sport!

The one thing that is bad about that point, especially since I work near the concord mills area, is that half those people camp out for two weeks before and don't need hotel space. Hell look around the race track almost all of is just open field 95% of the year. Now why Jacksonville got one before we did should be a argument.

If you work near there, then you should know from the traffic on race day, that only about half of half of half of half of half of the people camp at the speedway.

How many have actually been to the Nascar HOF? I went last month for the first time, and was very impressed! I´ve never even been to a race and neither has my wife, nor my father-in-law, but everyone loved the HOF! Check it out before you bash! It may never be a cash cow, but when more word gets out that it´s actually quite nice, especially for children, the future may not be so bleak as everyone thinks. It´s definitely not a ´joke´.

Also, does anyone remember Goodell saying that due to other owner´s respect for JR, it would not surprise him at all if Charlotte hosted a Super Bowl? Even Jerry Jones said on the Charlie Rose special that a Super Bowl in Charlotte would be ´fabulous´, and that he would sign off on it, ´without any hesitation´.
