thats kinda weird.. i was under the impression Richardson was a mega Republican? Maybe cuz were a red state with a democratic governor and they wanted to come to Charlotte at all cost? getting NC would be major for Obama's re-election if its a close election.

You don't understand business do you? The DNC is gonna bring exposure to Charlotte plus they have to pay him to use his stadium. More exposure for JR and the city means more money for JR and the City. JR could careless about political affiliations when it comes to money.

Yeah, I've always assumed he was a pretty hardcore conservative, but I'm sure the DNC paid out the ass for the use of the stadium. Plus, how many times do you think the words "home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers" will be mentioned that week on every news network on TV?

For example, here's the bit from Obama's web site:

A Big New Home for the 2012 DNC Convention

By Laura on January 17, 2012

There’s some big news out today about this September’s Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. On the last night, supporters will gather at Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, to watch President Obama accept his party’s nomination for President. This NFL stadium will be a great place for tens of thousands people to gather and kick off the final leg of the election.

To get a sense of just how huge this is going to be, here are some quick facts about the stadium:

* Seats: 73,778

*Size: 15 acres

*Height: 13 stories

*Parking spaces: 30,000

*Concession stands: 429

*Panthers’ Mascot: Sir Purr

The convention will, for the first time, begin with a day of service in the Charlotte area. Check back again for updates on how to get involved—it’s a great way to say thank you to the city, and to show your support for this campaign.
