Pass Rushers - 2nd Round DE

im starting to like Chandler Jones as well as a prospect, i read he has a brother in the NFL and in UFC so the bloodlines are there.

Definitely.. he has the longest arms in the draft, regardless of position. I bet he can block the shiz out of some FGs. The dude is a monkey.. his arms are so long. And No, I do not mean that in a racist connotation before someone says it.

Vinny Curry is a beast. Would approve of selecting him in the 2nd. We need pass rush in the worst way whether that is from DE or DT.

I like what Curry would bring us regarding the pass rush, but he would be a major liability in the run game (at least his first year). While he did improve drastically in this area his senior year, he is still not refined enough to be effective in the NFL. I see him as a 3rd down specialist his first season, with very high upside.

The thing I like about Chandler Jones is he could play 1st and 2nd down, because he is so nasty against the run already and does not lose contain like Hardy does so frequently.

Hardy could come in on 3rd down passing situations and spell Jones.. until Jones develops his pass rushing skills. Jones may have the most raw athletic ability of any DE in this draft. Just needs good coaching to harness it. I'd love either pick, tbh.

that is what pisses me off about Hardy and teams seen this and game planned around it. hence the redskin game.

the more i think about it, the more i approve of the idea of drafting a DE in the second round to compete with hardy/keiser/applewhite for that starting gig. why settle for ok at any spot on the Dline?

i have a new dream that is drafting brockers and picking up garay in FA and then drafting a DE in the 2nd.

then we go after honey badger in the first and baccarri rambo in the 2nd in 2013.

Usually, getting good pass rushers in FA are going to cost you a pretty penny.. that's why we need to find one in the draft.

The guy just makes plays, he is always in the backfield.

11:00 a.m. CT -- The North practice is complete. Vinny Curry of Marshall really stood out today and was impossible to stop at times. He's at a disadvantage, as he's been used solely at defensive end and never allowed to stand up over tackle, but scouts leave the morning and the week highly impressed with his athleticism, quickness and general feel as a pass rusher.

I love me some Bones Jones. Considering he is projected to be drafted mid-2nd round.. I'd say it will be pretty good chance we draft him, considering we are looking at other 2nd round DE prospects. Jones is only a junior, so he is not at this event.. if he were, then we would most assuredely be interviewing him.

Brockers in the first and Jones in the second would be absolutely sick. To 6'6 athletic guys would be a nightmare for someone like Drew Brees, good luck trying to throw over them.

Our run defense would be night and day compared to this season. Jones is known as a terrific run defender, and Brockers' ability is obvious. Jones needs time to develop his pass rush skills.. but he has the athletic ability to be a Justin Tuck type of player.
