Only thing I would change is grabbing a CB/FS/OLB in the 2nd. I originally wanted a CB in the 1st, but I'm on the Brockers wagon for now.

I just hope we do address at least 1 position of need in FA to eliminate a position for the draft to let us go BPA in all rounds.

Also, any chance we could trade down to grab Brockers? I've seen everything from 1st to 2nd round on him, but he's sure to shoot up the draft board after the combine you would think. Would love to trade back to the 13-16 area and grab him there.

I would switch the OT in the 4th to a CB or S but besides that dont have any problem with it. I have been coming around to putting the intention on the d line long before the playoff games anyway. You have a chance to beat any team with good d line pressure.

Reason I didnt pick a DB in my mock AND say im not sure we add one in Free Agency has several reasons.

DBs in FA are usually expensive.

The DB class isnt super stacked this year in FA.

I expect us to bring in a Defensive Tackle in FA. (Garay)

Brandon Hogan was basically a redshirt this season, but I thought he made a couple decent plays and had solid coverage when I could see him.

Darius Butler can play football, he did however get to the party late and he had a major family issue come up middle of the season (his daughter had heart surgery). I cant for a moment think he had his mind 100% on the game all year and I can blame him.

Captain....Ill just be quiet and hope he improves. He is one of our best special teamers tho, he has a place in the league no doubt.

Gamble can play.

Martin was bad this year, I cant defend him. That said Godfrey took a step forward IMO, a big step after his contract, he was excellent as a in the box safety and decent in coverage, if Martin can take the same step where his mind catches up with his athleticism he will be very very good.

Finally it all really depends on what this new DB guru can do. Former players on twitter have been touting his ability all season. If he thinks these guys can play, I think we ignore the position all together.

PS: If we can rush the passer at a high level the level of ability needed by the CB's is lowered considerably.

I don't mind your strategy thinking we may not go CB/S through the draft ...but we would then most definitely have to target a safety in the FA at the least. Maybe go after a young 3-4 CB from another team like a Sam Shields type while keeping Butler, Hogan, and of course Gamble (...Thomas wasn't bad either). At safeties we'll have Godfrey and someone new while cutting Pugh and pushing Sherrod back to make him play better.

If we go for a better d-line, it'll make these guys' jobs a little more manageable.

An offseason that doesn't add both a cornerback and defensive tackle capable of starting will be a complete failure, IMO.

I think it will be easier, and cheaper, to find a starter at defensive tackle via free agency. Therefore, I would take Kirkpatrick in the first in this mock and address DT via free agency.

I like everything else about this mock though.
