I really hope we add at least a CB to challenge Hogan and a FS. Hogan hasn't done anything to be given the CB2 spot without competition and we're one injury from having to rely on Captain as a starter again. Which should never happen. I like your mock well enough, but I'd much rather a CB or Markelle Martin in the 2nd than Everette Brown 2.0

Reason I didnt pick a DB in my mock AND say im not sure we add one in Free Agency has several reasons.

DBs in FA are usually expensive.

The DB class isnt super stacked this year in FA.

I expect us to bring in a Defensive Tackle in FA. (Garay)

Brandon Hogan was basically a redshirt this season, but I thought he made a couple decent plays and had solid coverage when I could see him.

Darius Butler can play football, he did however get to the party late and he had a major family issue come up middle of the season (his daughter had heart surgery). I cant for a moment think he had his mind 100% on the game all year and I can blame him.

Captain....Ill just be quiet and hope he improves. He is one of our best special teamers tho, he has a place in the league no doubt.

Gamble can play.

Martin was bad this year, I cant defend him. That said Godfrey took a step forward IMO, a big step after his contract, he was excellent as a in the box safety and decent in coverage, if Martin can take the same step where his mind catches up with his athleticism he will be very very good.

Finally it all really depends on what this new DB guru can do. Former players on twitter have been touting his ability all season. If he thinks these guys can play, I think we ignore the position all together.

PS: If we can rush the passer at a high level the level of ability needed by the CB's is lowered considerably.

Markelle Martin would be a great 2nd round pick and when I do my final mock could very well be who I like there. but TODAY I am obsessed with beefing up the D and OLine.

i like it.

unexpected 2nd round pick but i ain't hating it. i wouldn't be surprised if we went CB that round, but whatever. pick up honey badger next year. i do love the idea of a RDE/OLB pass rushing hybrid and this guy fits the bill about as well as anyone. i think bruce irvin would be a better pass rusher, but he'd have to line up as a joker pretty consistently and is weaker in run support than branch so i'm cool with whatever. just get the passer.

a killer Dline makes everyone's job easier on defense. it makes everyone look good. i like the attention to the trenches. hurst could be a steal.

best of all for me is brockers in the first and rainey in the 6th. great picks.

finishing up with powell was nice as well. we just need to replace mare with connor barth. young. great kicker. local boy who wants to play at home. contract is up. giddyup.
