2012 mock offseason & draft: FA Defense

thats the other thing, going by straight cap space is dumb because teams like the bucs and cheifs are going to have a TON of cap space but in reality they never use it so it's not like they'd really have that much money to spend. they have an internal budget. meanwhile teams like the giants will max out so in reality they will tend to spend more than what they're cap space indicates

Good examples, also team like the Steelers has zero cap dollars so they simply hand over 4 of their 5 top free agents and wait for the draft. :banghead:

Or go with a suggestion I already made. Give everyone 1 free Franchise Tag and $30 Cap Room.

While we're at it, just give every team the Pro Bowl roster too :) Some teams already have talent on the team they've invested money in, some teams need (and have) more cap room to go get more talent :P

I know, there is no perfect solution, just a compromise to make it a bit real and entertaining at the same time.

Just because there is less for you to do with this doesnt make it.unfair. No one made you guys pick teams that were already good, and therefore would have less cap space. Is this system perfect, no, but giving every team a bunch of cap would be even less realisitic. The steelers in all actuality are prob going to lose 3-4 starters this offseason due to cap issues. This could be more perfect by assigning actual cap amounts to players already on teams, but this is supposed to be fun for everyone dacitycats included. I dont expect him to.spend a ton of time to do something like that. We are all adults, and I bet none of us have that kinda time.

Yeah, cap amounts per player would be nuts, DaCityKats already put a lot of time in using whatever formula he did to come up with the numbers we have I imagine. Obviously a preset number would be effortless.

As far as picking teams based on how much cap space they would have I've done the Giants the last couple of years in the Huddle Draft so just stayed with them.

I might also mention, the Friday deadline we have set for Franchising a player will have to be delayed as Walter Football still hasn't identified the free agent pool for 7 teams as of today. We cant proceed with FTs or even trade players until we know who is still left on everyone's rosters.

nobody has to post cap amounts for each player. if you want to cut someone to create cap space you can look it up yourself. contracts are on rotoworld.

im doing the rams and i already know who their cap casualties are going to be and what their making

jason smith $10 million

ron bartell $6.2 million

i've already taken them off my roster as i assume they'll be cut

the cap hit for franchise tag is done by position, not specific player. easy to post a cost for each position

You dont think I would wanna cut people on the buc's? Im sure half the people in the league would wanna cut half their team to go sign free agents bc signing free agents is more fun that standing pat with the team you picked. And the franchise in some situations is done by specific player, if that player has already been getting paid. They get the 20% increase, instead of avg of the top 5 in the nfl at that position. Would you like to go through all 32 franchised players and find out who applies to that rule and who doesnt? If you were in control of this fantasy off season, and gave it up, imo you have no reason to complain. You have no right to expect someone else to do something that you weren't willing to do.

the person for each team can double check their own player that they're franchising, it's not that hard. i suspect most teams wouldn't franchise anyone. you could also just ignore the 20% rule as most of the time it doesn't make much of a difference anyway

again, not addressing anything brought up by anyone

the tag is $0. we can do prices on the tag next year, funny how everyone that had a beef with the way you ran last year just got we are keeping it simple. rotoworld does not give you every single contract number. get over it.

and again since you have problems with the way i am running this (even tho these are your rules), you should have ran it again.

well i thought whoever was going to run it would, yah know, actually run it

not just copy and paste everything from last year and then when there were problems go "oh well"

btw im doing the rams who are in good shape cap wise and i dont need to franchise anyone so this isn't really for me but some people have brought up valid concerns but hey i guess that takes effort to deal with that stuff, huh
