It's a truism in Hollywood that Will Smith does as he pleases, but this is the first time Charlotte has benefitted from his unusual approach. The star of the upcoming “Seven Pounds” is in the Queen City today to promote his film and raise awareness for Second Harvest Food Bank. Except for a stop in Miami, Sony Pictures officials say, we're the only Southern city Smith has decided to visit.

There Smith will donate the turkeys to Second Harvest. The red-carpet presentation is open to the public. Guests will include Carolina Panthers players Steve Smith and Julius Peppers, NASCAR driver Richard Petty, Mayor Pat McCrory and other celebrities.
