John Kasay

I love Kasay. But remember...he did miss a couple of kicks last year that we needed.

2 positions for 1 did him in on a team that needed a lot. Understandable.

Always wish him the best.

I know, the most important thing though is getting him out of that black and gold. Tired of spitting up a little every time I see him in an Aint uniform.

He did have a hellova year though. 30/36 and perfect inside the 40 yard mark. 8 of 14 beyond 40 and 2 50 plus yard makes.

Not too shabby.

Let's not give the Aints credit for signing John though. They only brought him in because their kicker Hartley went down.

Draft a punter who can handle kickoffs.

basically what they should have done to begin with

jason baker needs to be replaced and the biggest downside with kasay is having to use an extra roster spot for a kickoff specialist. get a top end punter that can kickoff solves both problems

i can't see this team winning a sb with the current kicker/punter we have now. i doubt they go backwards and get kasay but they need to change it up. our special teams WILL cost us games if they aren't fixed

bring him back for a day and let him retire a panther...at some point. i don't care when.

as far as what's best for the team right now....

clean house getting rid of baker and mare and bring in connor barth and donnie jones. both guys would be significant upgrades and are free agents.

    • Qbs aren't defined by physical abilities. Brady, Brees, Manning, Montana, Warner,.....doesn't seem to correlate.

    • If we are going to spend the money anyway, maybe the signing is not as bad as it seems.  Mays outperformed Corbett (before his injury and if you go back to last year, Corbett has been below average) and then Christensen took the job and Mays quickly took it from him and never looked back.  He could use improvement reaching to the next level (LBs) but picking up stunts and blitzes---he was surprisingly good.  Run blocking needs some work, but he is 25.  Corbett, in my view, should be G/C depth and if Mays steps back, he is there.  Mays should start because this team is building for the future and 30 year old players are not building blocks.  We shall see.  That is how I think about it, but there are many factors we do not know. Having said that, I like what Zavala is doing, and I do not want to bring in someone who would take opportunities away from him.  Zavala was really good at RG down the stretch, and in limited duty, was awesome. In fact, we have a guard from the PS who played briefly and did well, but he only played a few plays.  He is 25 and I recall that fans of his former team were upset when we signed him.   Maybe as the backup center only (Corbett).  You need 2 centers to run practices efficiently.  I cannot say enough about the OL coaches on this staff.  What they have done is overshadowed by the Lewis / Hunt signing.  Mays, Ekwonu, Zavala--impressive growth.
