No! Just saying, if RR invest a high pick in a CB then I think RR will show he is having doubts about Hogan's ability to be #2 CB. If RR feels we have a solid #2 in Hogan then we are pretty much set a CB and will not need to invest a high pick into a CB, especially with many other obvious needs and needs that us fans aren't even aware of......which leads me to feel confident that LaMichael James will be our pick in Rd. 2. WE NEED PASS RUSH MORE THAN "ELITE" SECONDARY. We need a FS worse than CB #2, imo. I think if we take Kirkpatrick in Rd. 1 then he will be our new FS.

Interesting take. Fun read. I understand your position on the CB now.

Kirkpatrick as FS would be interesting, but not sure he would 'buy-in' to that ($).

I agree we need pass rush more & it will take an elite OLB, but honestly we need to get that pressure from DT...which I don't see us going with early. An OLB cannot disrupt if the DTs can't at least eat up blocks. No one fears our DTs right now.

Speaking of DT: Our team has a lot run stoppers (who actually do not stop the run), but not much who can penetrate & cause chaos in the pass game. I think the experiment with Fua should have ended much earlier..Kearse & Shirley played much better, but still not good enough.

No Doubt Improving our pass rush starts with the interior of our DL. I don't know what RR's plan is to improve our Pass Rush but defensively, THAT IS OUR BIGGEST NEED. If we had Darelle Revis and Gamble as our CB's then there would have been only marginal defensive improvement vs. taking our secondary and putting them on the field with the Giants or Texans pass rush!

Agree 100%.

This is a huge need, but what concerns me was Rivera (or McDermott if you must), left Fua & McClain out there vs. rotating in other players (as starters). Does the coaching staff understand this need? Rheatorical, of course.

Any secondary is 2-5x's better with an outstanding pass rush. If we had that, I might feel comfortable with what we've seen of Hogan &/or Butler to some degree. No CB can cover a WR for extended time...that's just the nature of the game & why timing is so important (it's why it's a team game too).

So the "conspiracy" is that he was the guy all along and just had to wait a year due to contract. The "prediction" is that this means we'll be drafting high for the secondary.

So just to combine the two here....he and Rivera had a "wink and nod" agreement all along, yet he didn't pass along any opinions on last years crop of secondary players?
