Steve Wilks the new secondary coach for Panthers

umm u can bring in the best coach in the world, you cant shine a turd. A complete overhaul is needed for the secondary, just start over.

So you want to wait 3 or 4 more years? The Panthers already have a few good pieces in the secondary (Gamble and Godfrey). You don't "start over". This isn't fantasy football.

Charger fans aren't disappointed, fwiw.

It's not worth much

coming from the CMB, the Mayor is spot on. How quickly they forgot that we were 1st in PD in '10. Cason started 11 hurt, Jammer had some off field stuff and a little age decline. I'd say maybe Gilchrist and Wright might be the only real things we could put on him last season.

Me too. He is a vast upgrade over Meeks.

Now that Rivera has gotten his new coach, and has another draft and a full offseason to work with, we need to see a huge improvement in the secondary.

I like the guy, especially how agressive his style is, but I am still not sold of Rivera. He is a defensive Coach. Even with the injuries, there should be no reason why our defense regressed so badly this year. I hope he steps up to the plate in 2012 and shows us why he was the right choice for HC.

We had no QB, had to spend a pick there

Injuries wiped us out and our secondary is average except Gamble.

Then DL is average except CJ. Where's the talent

I think Hogan is our #2 CB, but a later round pick for insurance would be nice. Im more concerned with developing a pressure up front at this point than our d backs.

I know there are multiple people who think this & I have the brightest hopes for Hogan as well, BUT...what has Hogan does (at this point) to make people secure that he is the answer. He played very little this year & didn't do anything cthat should lead us to think he is elite. He didn't play bad either, just not much of anything.

Gamble, no matter how well he played this year, is getting older & will begin losing a step. We do need a starting CB & I feel this is the year to get 1 (depending on if the quality is there, which is very possible at our slotting...if we trade down a ways then go OLB). The only other position I think we should look at #1 overall (edit: I meant 1st round; our 1st pick overall) would be OLB. WRs, DTs & OGs can be found in later rounds.

This new secondary coach will probably change the play even without new players, but I feel we need at least 1 more piece. We are not inshambles, but need an addition of a playmaker & re-tooling with the other players we have. I think our secondary will be very good next year...but we need to get pressure from DTs too to make that happen.
