Landry only started playing ss when he went to the skins and was paired up with sean taylor. Either way, godfrey was a corner in college, he is naturally a better coverage player, all the while landry is a bigger hitter.

Two thoughts:

1) He is still probably going to command more than we are willing to give, unless the injuries are significant and lingering.

2) If they are significant injuries, it's not just the money, but a roster spot as well. So if he goes down again, which may be a better than 50-50 chance, we are back to filling out the 53 with PS guys. It's the same situation with TD, except TD is our guy and loyalty counts for something.

I would prefer we save this kind of a move until our roster on D is filled with decent starters, and we can afford to take more risks.

That with our LB core would be pretty amazing. We'd have a pretty dominant defense if this were to all pan out especially if Ron Edwards comes back healthy and McClain shows improvement.
