Kendall Wright rated higher than Blackmon?!

well, possibly...someone does

"Area scouts and sources" tell SI's Tony Pauline that "a lot of teams" have Baylor's Kendall Wright rated as the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2012 NFL draft.

"Several teams," including one NFC club currently in the playoffs, have Wright rated higher than Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon.

Blackmon is a favorite of media draftniks, but he only goes 6-foot-1, is likely to run in the 4.5s, and has a checkered off-field history. Wright will likely time in the low-4.3s and has drawn comparisons to Carolina's Steve Smith for his combo of vertical skills and physicality. With the Senior Bowl just over a week away, Wright may be a sleeper to be drafted in the top ten.

So maybe my mock isn't THAT much out of the realm of possibility

Kendall Wright would be WAY tempting in the 2nd if hes still on the board. Even though its not a position of dire need. If the sky fell along with Blackmon to #8 that would be the BEST problem ever. Get him (can we pass on him?) OR trade down. Someone would trade up for Blackmon at 8 (or 9), lots of talent.

if we can pull off a trade with cincy and get their two first rounders and we pick up a DT and a CB with them...i'd have no problem taking one of those three (blackmon, floyd, wright) or sanu with our second rounder.

none of that is happening, though.

hakeem nicks ran a 4.5 at the combine and outran the entire falcons defense last weekend

40 time is about as worthless as it gets as it doesn't even measure practical "football speed"

the size and speed concerns of blackmon remind me a lot about what people were saying about nicks, but at the end of the day a playmaker is a playmaker
