Ron Meeks Let Go

DB coaches that Ron Rivera worked with in Chicago and Philly:

Steve Spagnuolo

Perry Fewell

Sean McDermott

Leslie Frazier

Torrian Gray

Gray is the only non-high profile guy. He's currently the DB coach for Virginia Tech. Coached Kam Chancellor, Brandon Flowers, Cody Grimm, and Jayron Hosely who is expected to be a 2nd rounder this year. Probably not the hire but you never know... seems like he does a solid job and has a connection.

martin was worse for sure.

godfrey was just a busy busy man. the guy was more of a utility guy this year than anything. there were so many weak spots and holes left because of injury and inexperience that godfrey was made to work harder and wear more hats.

i don't think there was a regression. he was just asked to do too much and was spread thin.

Yeah people need to stop lumping Godfrey in with Martin.

Steve Spagnuolo is going to command a nice pay check as a DC somewhere. And Fewell's D is LOADED with talent...and in the playoffs. Unless they get blown out of the water Sunday I can't see him going anywhere.

lol i'm not suggesting we hire top tier DCs and head coaches to be an assistant... i'm just stating who they were. gray is the odd man out.

i was kind of surprised they kept him. he's more of a cover2 guy. didn't seem to fit what rivera and mcdermmott was doing.

i wonder who they have in mind.

Agreed.

Ron Meeks is a good coach for the right team but I didn't think he fit too well here.

Wtf? You guys are acting like it was his fault. CB where the best part of the D this year. They can't hold coverage that long and keep tackling dang running backs. The DL or OL coach should have been fired before this man. I am very upset at this move.

1 CB was probably the best part of the D this year. The other dragged the D down so much it balanced out. If I had to call 1 group the best part of our D this year it'd be LB, even with the biggest depletion due to injury. Anderson played great and Senn played better than we thought he could. Connor played like he usually does, not bad but not great.

QBs throwing in his direction had a 126.9 rating and had a 73.8 comp %.

that doesn't really qualify as good.

in fact that makes him one of the worst in the league.

Fair enough. I guess I had my rose colored glasses on.
